Season 2 of Next Level Chef will air on Fox on Sunday, February 12, at 10:30pm ET, following the Super Bowl telecast. The culinary competition series will feature 18 chefs from across the United States competing for a $250,000 grand prize by creating the greatest dishes imaginable, including social media chef Matt Groark. Matt Groark, 44, is a teacher and owner of Groark Boys’ BBQ, which has over 3.2 million followers on Tik-Tok. He appeared in Season 2 of Next Level Chef, directed by Richard Blais.
Matt Groark, a Next Level Chef finalist, founded Groark Boys BBQ in 2018.
Matt Groark graduated from Rowan University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Education in Health and Physical Education. He later earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Wilmington University, where he graduated in 2008.
Groark began teaching health and physical education at Washington Township High School. He ran a fundraiser in 2018 to launch Groark Boys BBQ, his first restaurant. By 2020, Matt had donated $30,000 to charities and community groups from the proceeds of his meat company, which included pulled pork, brisket, mac & cheese and other dishes.
In a 2020 interview, he stated:
“From the beginning, my goal was to give back because of the way others supported and gave back to my family. Any financial advantage resulting from this… My value is to provide people not only with food, but also with hope and motivation. That’s more important to me than any money I might get.”
He has participated in various philanthropic events, including feeding Washington Township residents and Sam’s Club pandemic fundraising efforts. Matt and Kristin Leigh Groark, who have two sons named Aidric and Nash, recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary.
Season 2 of Next Level Chef
The second season of Next Level Chef is hosted by chef Gordon Ramsay. She and coaches Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais will judge their teams of six members each in three different kitchens with varying scenarios and environments. There are many home cooks, high-level chefs, professional chefs and social media chefs among the 18 candidates.
To win the trophy, the $250,000 grand prize, and a year of mentorship, the chefs must create “the most brilliant next-level cuisine” in front of their respective mentors.
According to the Fox series description:
“The legendary epic gastronomic gauntlet returns to its glory days. Each floor of the three-story building has a very diverse kitchen. The ingredients complete the atmosphere, from the sparkling upstairs to the depths of the difficult cellar, as Gordon Ramsay believes that the ultimate measure of a great chef is not just what they can achieve under the best conditions, but the kind of magic they can create under the worst!”
It also says:
“The stakes are high as the chefs try to make their first impression on their respective teams, with a year of coaching and $250,000 on the line. In the all-new “Premiere” season premiere episode of Next Level Chef, who will cook the ultimate next-level meal, and who won’t?”
Next Level Chef season 2 premieres Sunday, February 12 at 10:30pm ET to see if Matt Groark can wow the mentors with his debut dish. After the premiere episode, Next Level Chef will return to its regular Thursday night time slot at 8pm ET.
