The latest episode of the SiriusXM podcast “Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa” features a heart-to-heart with the “Interstellar” star. During their conversation, the 53-year-old opened up about the Lufthansa flight that suddenly plummeted 4,000 feet after being hit by turbulence.

The TV personality recalled the terrifying moment: “It was suspended disbelief. I mean, it’s zero gravity. Your red wine, your glass and plate of food are all suspended, floating, still in the air.”

The People’s Choice Award winner continued, “And to see it that long, which isn’t that long — one, two, three, four [seconds] — and then it all fell apart,” noting he was moved by the experience.

The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” actor described the ordeal as “very scary,” explaining that he felt “100 percent” that no one could control such a situation. Even in distress, the first thing the entertainer thinks about is not his safety but his wife, Alves.

“It’s my tray table that’s holding me back. I wasn’t wearing a seat belt and there was no warning before it happened,” revealed the Texas heartthrob, noting that he “reached for it immediately, making sure Camila was wearing her seat belt.”

The father of three recounted the true story, saying, “[We] holding hands just saying, ‘OK, is that it? Anyone else coming?’ Another one is coming,” adding that people had mixed reactions to the unrest.

“It is odd. You hear people’s reactions. Some of the ghosts were silent. Some people have a big laugh. And it’s not like, ‘Oh, this is fun.’ It was like, ‘I’m shocked,’” the TV personality observed.

As for why the 53-year-old didn’t panic in the terrifying situation, McConaughey explained that his fellow pilot had traveled with the pair and reassured him of their safety.

During the turbulence, the TCA Award winner admitted that he wondered if the plane would survive in the severe air currents when he heard steel buckles. However, his fellow pilot remained calm throughout the journey, comforting the Hollywood sensation that the structure would not collapse.

“I was like, ‘Can the plane hold up?’ And he was like, ‘This thing is so tested that yeah, don’t worry, the plane can structurally withstand it.’ That was a huge relief,” said the media personality, telling the host his friend vowed to fly the plane if anything went wrong.

“In Flight last night, the plane fell almost 4000 feet, seven people went to the hospital, Everything flew everywhere,” Alves began his caption. “To respect the privacy of those around me, that’s all I showed, but the plane was chaotic. And the turmoil keeps coming.”

The mother of three expressed her gratitude to God for protecting the flight passengers and praised Marriott Bonvoy staff for their kindness while the couple spent the night at the hotel.
