Matthew Perry Spends Big Money
The actor best known for Friends has shared his truth about his privileged life and how he has made the most of it. “I’ve probably spent $9 million or something trying to get sober,” he guessed.
Perry sat with New York Times where he admitted that he ended up being the most successful in his journey to stay sober but it cost a lot of money. He admitted that the $9 million he spent was more than the average addict could afford and noted that he was probably paying for “anonymous gifts.”
This is just the latest news to come out of the actor’s new book “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.”

The actor also shared that being an addict clearly caused him to act out of character. He takes almost 55 Vicodin a day and he claims he became obsessed with the death of Chris Farley.
“Then, Chris Farley died,” he wrote The Whole Nine Yards actor. Farley also had an addiction problem and gave in to his addiction, shocking the world. This scared Perry. “His disease has progressed faster than mine. (Besides, I have a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin,’ a fear we don’t share.)”
He later recalled, “I punched a hole in Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out.” He also pointed out that when he finally had to promote the movie he and Farley made together, Almost Hero,
“I found myself openly discussing his death from drugs and alcohol,” she wrote in the book. “I feel high all the time,” he admits. It was embarrassing now that he looked back at it.

Perry also revealed in the memoir that he was very close to death. “The doctor told my family that I had a two percent chance of living,” he wrote. “That’s when I was really close to the end of my life. I was put on an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and lungs.”
Perry continued, “Every doctor says it’s a Hail Mary. No one survived that. So, the big question is why? Why am I the one who survived? There must be some reason.”
He went on to shockingly admit, “No one knows,” about his addiction. “Not my family, my friends, nobody.”
