Mausumi Chatterjee was born on Thursday, 18 December 1980 (age 39 years; as in 2020), in Kolkata (West Bengal). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He did his schooling from Bethune Collegiate School, and later, attended Bethune College in Kolkata. He did post graduation in Mathematics from Calcutta University.

Her open-minded husband encouraged her to live her dreams. After becoming a mother, she started her studies again, she completed a design course from INIFD Bangalore and became a fashion designer. She never took training to establish herself as a model.
Her family and friends encouraged her to participate in beauty pageants. She won the title of Mrs Bharat Icon Congeniality 2018 and Mrs Bharat Icon Style Diva 2019 at the Bharat Icon Beauty Pageant. She has done many brand liaison models and several photoshoots for famous brands.

- He came from a very orthodox Hindu Brahmin family. In an interview, he said,
My parents never thought about my future or career development except for the traditional Indian rule, ‘Marriage is a must’ no matter what qualities a girl has.’ They never think of anything outside the box”. My desires and dreams always lie beneath my closed eyes. After marriage, I was blessed with domineering and evil parents-in-law, they never supported me to upgrade my career but insulted me along with unfair assessment. In fact they are also against women’s education. I almost went crazy with the great mental torture of my parents-in-law, but my husband supported me, so I could improve myself and reach this level.”
- After marriage, she faces hardships & harassment from her in-laws. The couple moved to Ahmedabad to escape from trouble and avoid any mishaps.
- She was almost 90 Kg after pregnancy, she thought of suicide. She couldn’t attend any functions or parties and was shamed for her weight, but her determination and strong desire helped her become a model.
