Mimicry Artist
Before starting his career in acting, Mayilsamy used to work as a mimicry artist. He has also worked for stunt master Kanal Kannan, who once recorded his mime voice to be used as the background score of action scenes.

Mayilsami made her acting debut with the Tamil language film “Dhavani Kanavugal” in 1984 where she made a brief appearance as one of the audience members.
He has appeared in nearly 200 films in a career spanning 39 years. Some of his most famous Tamil films include “Gnanapazham” (1996), “Dhill” (2001), “Vaseegara” (2003), “Kanchana” (2011), “Sathiram Perunthu Nilaiyam” (2013) and “Idiot” (2022). . ).

In 1996, Mayilsami made his television debut with the TV show “Marmadesam” on Sun TV where he played the role of Santhanakrishnan. In 2023, he lent his voice to the film “Glassmate” which he completed before his death.
Award
In 2004, he was awarded with the Tamil Nadu State Government Award for Best Comedian for his performance in the Tamil film ‘Kangal Kaidhu Sei.’
Death
Mayilsami died around 5:30 am on February 19, 2023 due to a heart attack. According to several sources, Mayilsami returned home after performing and complained of restlessness following which he was admitted to hospital where he was pronounced dead by doctors. In an interview, while talking about Mayilsami’s death, Rajinikanth said,
His (Mauilsamy’s) death on Shivaraatri was not a coincidence but (pointing to the sky) his calculation. He (Lord Shiva) had called his pious devotee (Mayilsamy) to himself on the right day (Lord Shiva).
Facts/Trivia
- Mayilsamy was a devoted devotee of Lord Shiva. He used to visit Marundeeswarar Temple in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai every year. Before his death, he performed at an event at Kelambakkam Shiva temple in Vandalur with drummer Shivamani for Mahashivaratri on 17 February 2023. In an interview, drummer Shivamani said that Mayilsamy shared his last wish to bring Rajinikanth to Kelambakkam Shiva temple when they performed over there. Shivamani says,
Mayilsamy had told me, “I have brought (late) Vivek sir to this temple. I brought you (Shivamani Drum) too. and my last wish is to bring Superstar Rajinikanth to this temple and have him do milk abhishekam on the linga here.”
- His on-screen pairing with actors, Vivek and Vadivelu, especially in comedy films, was appreciated by the audience.
