WASHINGTON – He loves it.
Republican Representative Kevin Hern of Oklahoma took a unique approach to grab some votes for his House speaker bid on Monday.
Enlisting the support of his fellow GOP lawmakers, Hern delivered a “Dear Colleague” letter to their office stapled to a bag containing two McDonald’s cheeseburgers.
The move is an obvious nod to his “McCongressman” nickname for his past as a McDonald’s franchisee. Hern once owned 18 fast food restaurants.

“My 35 years of experience as a business leader make me uniquely qualified to lead a diverse Republican Conference and ensure that we break the legislative mold in an ongoing crisis,” Hern wrote in his letter.
“Our conference is at a crossroads. We can choose business as usual, or we can choose speakers who don’t come to Washington to be something, but to do something,” he added.
House Republicans will meet Monday evening to decide their next nominee for House speaker.
