A British McDonald’s security guard has gone viral after he was filmed aggressively mopping the ground where a homeless man was camping — leaving his blanket drenched in water and bleach.
Aaron McCarthy, 25, was sitting on the pavement near the entrance to one of the fast food chain’s London sites on Saturday night when a McDonald’s employee approached him and asked him to move.
Footage captured by a passerby showed the security guard suddenly kicking McCarthy’s blanket before using a mop to douse the sidewalk with soapy water.

“The man started mopping the floor and kicked my things into the water. It’s disgusting,” McCarthy told the Telegraph afterwards.
“I had to leave because it was so stressful, and I barely slept all night because my bed was wet. You can still smell the bleach on my blanket.”
In the video, witnesses can be heard denouncing the incident as “outrageous” and “disobedient”.
The harrowing footage shows the security guard suddenly kicking the man’s blanket away before using a mop to douse the pavement with soapy water.
Damon Evans, who posted recording on Xtagged McDonald’s UK to express his anger.
“Do you think it’s acceptable for your staff to soak homeless sleeping bags in the middle of winter (or any other time of the year)?” he asked.
“Disgusting behavior. He is not even outside your premises.”
Witnesses can be heard slamming the incident as “outrageous” and “disobedient”. McCarthy said her belongings were soaked in bleached water during the ordeal.
McDonald’s later apologized for the ordeal, saying they were “shocked and saddened” by the footage.
“The third-party security guard involved has been permanently removed from our restaurant and the restaurant team has been reminded of the importance of treating everyone with respect, including vulnerable people both in the restaurant and in the wider community,” the fast-food chain said. said in a statement on X.
“We would like to sincerely apologize to the man in the video and will work with the council to find him and make amends as part of our ongoing work to support homeless charities in & around the area.”
