Meek Mill Is Spreading The Holiday Cheer To Incarcerated Philadelphia Women

Meek Mill shares some Christmas cheer!

The rapper became a personal miracle worker when he gave nearly two dozen families a chance to enjoy the festive season to the fullest when he posted bail for several women who were jailed over the Christmas weekend. His kind gesture was reportedly motivated by his own experiences when he landed behind bars in 2008 and 2017.

For longer than anyone can remember, Christmas has allowed people to show their good side in the midst of the festivities. Even so, it came as a bit of a shock when Mill revealed that he paid the bail of 20 women who were incarcerated in a Philadelphia-area correctional facility.

The rapper’s goodwill secured the release of the women, who otherwise would not have been able to post their bail, on Christmas Eve. Within hours, some of them were joined by their children and other loved ones in an emotionally charged pre-holiday reunion.

“It is very sad for me to be away from my son during the holidays when I am in prison. So I understand what these women and their families are going through,” Mill, whose real name is Robert Williams, began in a statement.

In case you missed it, the “All Eyes on You” hitmaker was found guilty of possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree possession of a loaded firearm by a convicted felon in 2008.

The conviction resulted in him being sentenced to 11 to 23 months in prison and eight years of probation by a Philadelphia County Superior Court judge. Fortunately, the 35-year-old regained his freedom after seven months in early 2009, getting a five-year probation deal.

Mill was sentenced a second time for violating his parole in 2017. This time, he served five months in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution. Regarding his Christmas act, the “Dreams and Nightmares” rapper continued in his statement:

“No one should spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail. I am grateful for the opportunity to help these women with their families and loved ones at this special time of the year.”

In addition to rescuing them, the co-founders of REFORM gave each woman a gift card to buy groceries or gifts, per PEOPLE. Mill co-founded the nonprofit with Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, Michael Rubin, Robert Kraft and others in 2018.

Since then, the criminal justice reform advocate has dedicated his time to helping those in need. In fact, the rapper has helped pass 16 bills in ten American states to create “stable communities, stronger families and greater public safety for all.”

As part of his organization’s annual “Season of Giving” event for 2022, more than 50 children affected by the criminal justice system were treated to several surprises. One such surprise was the kids spending quality time with Mill, and Philadelphia Eagles players, including Darius Slay, Jordan Mailata, Avonte Maddox, Dallas Goedert, and Jalen Hurts.

Kids also got a chance to tour the Wells Fargo Center, where they interviewed 76ers head coach Doc Rivers before enjoying the game in a VIP box with their new basketball merchandise.

“Wheel Up!” Star Blasts BET For Giving Her Baby A Slot In Their Awards Chypher

Mill shared how unhappy she was with this year’s BET Awards show after she watched her baby mama, Milan Rouge, perform below her standards during the event. The Blast reports that the “Lord Knows / Fighting Stronger” rapper took to Twitter to tell the entertainment network, writing:

“”Ion like a “bet” got my bm tryna spit bar for attention/influence … its like a shame the setup was made to look like an opportunity! and I’m in the “women’s empowerment movement” but you guys are interesting .. Pure manipulation.”

An hour after the initial tweet, the “Dream” actress reopened the social media app to clap back at critics who called her out for not supporting her baby mama, tweeting:

“I voiced my opinion about the relevance of my life and the company that I get money from .. .. all women ignite love for them! Everything is not a network especially if you say you get money … stay true to yourself “the phone” gets us all lost even me!”

Milan, who ventured into the rap industry apparently relatively new following his previous involvement in fashion, took part in the annual chyper event, this year.
