Shaun White is a former snowboarder and skateboarder from San Diego, California. His parents, Cathy and Roger, gave birth to him there. Shaun comes from a family of three brothers, the youngest of them. His mother, Cathy, worked as a waitress, while his father, who had a surfing background, worked for the water department in San Clemente, California. Shaun’s older sister, Jesse White, who is seven years older than him, played an important role in his life by teaching him how to snowboard. Shaun White switched from skiing to snowboarding when he was six years old, inspired by the path of his older brother Jesse White.
He got his first sponsorship when he was seven years old. During his career, White participated in five Olympic Winter Games, winning three Olympic gold medals in snowboard halfpipe in 2006, 2010 and 2018. Additionally, Shaun was born with a congenital heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot, which required him to undergo two open heart surgeries before the age of one. Cathy was concerned about her decision to pursue snowboarding as a profession due to her health issues. However, he eventually accepted her wish and supported her path. He is now her biggest fan, always supporting her and offering her undying support.

Jesse White, Shaun White’s older brother, was the one who first introduced him to skateboarding. Shaun followed in his older brother’s footsteps and became an excellent snowboarder. Despite his childhood snowboarding, Jesse now works as a creative director at Whitespace by Shaun White. The talented young man is now married with two sons. On October 13, 2018, he married Dominique Alexandra White.
