Meet the Democratic ‘super mayor’ who critics say deserves TV show for her brazen antics, wild spending

The self-described “super mayor” of a small Illinois town is making waves for his wild antics and alleged wanton spending of taxpayer money — with some insisting his run calls for a real-life “Parks and Recreation” TV show.

Tiffany Henyard, a Democrat who served as mayor of the Chicago suburb of Dolton, has drawn attention for allegedly blowing taxpayer cash on everything from first-class flights to Las Vegas to excessive security and personalized billboards.

Henyard, who is also Thornton Township supervisor, has been criticized for bringing DJs to town meetings, shooting music videos with police and using professional stylists to get glam for community events.

Meanwhile, the disaffected mayor’s Instagram and TikTok pages are filled with videos of his clothing influencers, as well as posts in which he often boasts that “God chose me.”

In her Instagram bio, Henyard describes herself as “The Most Powerful Woman in the Southland of Chicago.”

His cheeky “soap opera” level antics have gained widespread attention on social media in recent weeks – with many claiming his behavior was almost too funny to be believed.

“There’s a real-life Parks and Rec situation happening in a small town outside of Chicago thanks to this mayor, Tiffany Henyard,” Barstool Sports’ Jack Mac declared in a TikTok video.

“Tiffany Henyard’s adventures make Eric Adams and Byron Brown look like [insert your favorite mayor here],” another X user tweeted.

Backlash against Henyard began to mount late last year when local outlets Fox 32 and WGN9 began investigating his spending.

According to a copy of a municipal credit card statement obtained by WGN9, the taxpayer paid more than $3,741 for a round-trip flight to Vegas last May when he and other officials attended a mall conference.

Other charges from the trip included more than $8,400 for hotels, $587 at Ruth’s Chris Steak House and nearly $400 at Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish.

When he was asked about the trip by a local reporter in a now-viral video, Henyard replied point blank: “Any other questions?”

There are also several billboards throughout the city of about 20,000 people — with an average annual salary of $24,000 — bearing Henyard’s face and name paid for by the city, Fox 32 reported.

Henyard was elected in 2021 and collectively earned $285,000 in salary from his two positions. Dolton Village

Despite heavy self-promotion, billboards advertise “Fresh Produce,” “Senior Service” and “General Assistance.”

It’s unclear whether Henyard — who was elected in 2021 — paid out of pocket for the makeup artists and stylists he enlisted who are featured heavily on his social media pages.

In addition to being defrauded of his expenses, Henyard has faced criticism over a controversial wage ordinance he successfully proposed for Thornton Township, which critics claim is a strategy to discourage anyone from opposing him.

Henyard, who collectively earns $285,000 in salary from his two positions, is proposing a nearly 90% cut to his salary if someone else wins his seat in the upcoming election, Fox 32 reported. If Henyard is re-elected, however, his salary will remain the same.

The ordinance, which would also lower the salaries of other non-incumbent officials in the township, was approved in December.

Henyard did not immediately respond to The Post about his response and spending habits.

The mayor, however, hit back in various posts on social media in recent weeks, including one in which he wrote: “There is no such thing as a ‘one sided story.’ Know the facts!!”
