Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has expressed his desire to mend things with his daughter and meet his grandchildren before he dies.

Thomas, who last spoke publicly about his relationship with the Duchess in May, revealed that he was heartbroken by her actions. Thomas believes his daughter has turned against him since her marriage to Prince Harry.

Thomas, 79, talked about his desire to meet his grandchildren during an interview with Good Morning Britain. He revealed that he hasn’t seen his daughter in half a decade and feels bad that Meghan kept their son, Archie, from him.

“I am heartbroken. I am very dissapointed. This is a cruel thing to do to grandparents – to deny the right to see grandchildren,” said Thomas, each Daily Mail.

The father of three also threatened to start a legal battle with the royal couple if they did not agree to his demands.

He revealed, “In California, I could actually sue to see them, but I don’t want to do that.” Thomas expressed confusion as to why Meghan was distancing herself from him. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” he explained, “There’s nothing to show that I’m a bad person.”

Meghan’s father apologized for anything he may have done to upset her in the past. He reveals he is willing to do anything to mend their relationship and deserves to be forgiven.

“People go to prison for five years and they’re forgiven – I didn’t do anything. So forgive me, I guess.”

Thomas then compared himself to King Charles, noting that they were treated in the same way. He explained that they were deprived of contact with their grandchildren for no reason.

Defending the King, he explained, “King Charles did nothing wrong either and he was denied a child like me,” he said.

Amid complaints that Meghan was avoiding him, Thomas also noted that the Duchess of Sussex had changed. She explained that she became a different person after marriage and expressed surprise at the change. “Meghan lived with me from sixth grade through high school and I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve never seen the kind of woman she’s turned into. I was surprised,” he said.

Thomas added, “I’m a very loving father and he knows that, and there’s no reason to treat me this way – no reason to treat a grandparent like that.” However, he revealed that he is ready to patch things up anytime and will always love her.

“I’m always here for him, I still love him, I will love him forever. That’s not going to change,” he said, adding, “but I want him to contact me and let me see my grandson and give me some peace.”

The “Suits” actress previously released a statement begging her father to stop exploiting her relationship with the Royal family. This comes after Thomas was bailed out of her wedding to Harry after it was revealed she had faked pictures of herself getting ready for the wedding with the paparazzi. Following this, Meghan, in a letter accused her father of using her marriage to Prince Harry to gain money and fame.

He also pleads with Thomas to consider the “pain” he has caused. It reads, per People magazine“…Please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband … I realize you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there is no way out, but if you take a moment to stop, I think you will see that being able to live with a clear conscience is worth more than any payment in the world.”

While Meghan blamed her father’s behavior for the rift between them, the late Queen held Harry partly responsible. According to royal commentator Katie Nicholl, Queen Elizabeth II stated that Harry should visit his father-in-law and make him feel welcome by the Royal family. He also believed that it would help in preventing a rift between the father and daughter.
