Megyn Kelly reveals what Chris Christie told her during heated off-air confrontation at GOP debate: ‘He was pissed’

Megyn Kelly was not happy with what former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said to her during their heated interaction at the fourth Republican presidential primary debate of 2024 on Wednesday, saying the presidential candidate was “angry” that she wasn’t asked enough questions.

in short 13 second clip taken during a commercial break shows Christie aggressively speaking to debate moderators Kelly and Eliana Johnson of the Washington Free Beacon.

“She was angry,” Kelly explained on “The Megyn Kelly Show” on Thursday.

“He was angry because he didn’t get enough questions. And he said, ‘I made a decision at this stage, and I can’t talk for a while. And I should have been brought in at that last debate.’”

Despite Christie’s frustration, Kelly made it clear he knew the former governor would finally get the stage time he was looking for during the second half of the debate.

“I said, ‘We’re coming to you. You’re going to be happy in the second hour,’ which I faced,” Kelly added.

Kelly said “an even spread of questions was broken out of all contention” among Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy during the first half of the debate.

“We let them fight in the first 40 minutes of the debate and so it comes at the expense of something,” he explained, adding that “everything comes at the expense of something else that’s coming.”

But even with explaining why Christie might feel insulted, he had a tough message for the presidential candidate during his performance the next day.

“He voted at 2%!” he declared.

“Never debated, and I’ve now done six of them, have we given as many questions to the guy who has 3% as the frontrunner, at least among the candidates who are on stage. I’m sorry, Gov. Christie. That’s how it is.”

Kelly claimed each candidate received roughly the same amount of time to answer questions, citing CNN’s numbers from the debate.

“Vivek got 22 minutes, DeSantis 21, Haley 17, Christie 16 and 52 seconds. So she’s half a minute behind Haley, who’s tied there for number one,” Kelly shared.

Kelly insisted that Christie was not wronged on Wednesday.

“I don’t want to hear it, frankly. We did it right by him. He gets a ton of airtime. That’s what he’s angry about,” Kelly said.

“I like the guy, but just to deliver some news about what people are speculating about… They never like it when they can’t talk.”

The back-and-forth between Christie and the former Fox News host wasn’t the only infuriating moment for the former governor during Wednesday night’s debate.

Christie ripped into Ramaswamy after the biotech entrepreneur downplayed Haley’s intelligence.

“This is the fourth debate. The fourth debate that you will be voted in the first 20 minutes as the most annoying punch in America,” Christie said, setting off a near shouting match as Ramaswamy repeatedly interrupted Christie.

“We’re now 25 minutes into this debate, and he has insulted Nikki Haley’s basic intelligence, not her position, her basic intelligence,” Christie continued.
