Actor Jason Ritter, Melanie Lynskey’s husband, has a secret role in “The Last Of Us.”
Although the “Two and a Half Men” actress played Kathleen Coghlan, the leader of a dissident group in Kansas City, for two episodes, Ritter’s role was a little hard to pin down!

This is far from the first time the two have starred together. As Entertainment Weekly points out, the two previously appeared in the Hulu limited series “Candy.” Lynskey plays Betty Gore; Jessica Biel plays 1980s housewife Candy Montgomery, who kills her friend Gore. Biel’s husband, Justin Timerlake, and Lynskey’s husband, Jason Ritter, play the cops who investigate Gore’s murder.
The pair will also team up again in season 2 of the hit series, “Yellowjackets.” Details about his role have not been announced, but it appears he will star in at least one episode. “Lord of the Rings” star Elijah Wood also made a guest appearance in the second season of the Emmy-nominated series.
Melanie Lynskey Reveals That ‘The Last Of Us’ Scene Took Over A Month To Film
Fans who have seen episode five of season 1 of “The Last of Us” know that there is an intense action scene when clickers, or infected people, rise from the ground and start attacking everyone in sight. During the week of training, Melanie Lynskey revealed that Jason Ritter was training as a stuntman during an episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” (via IndieWire).
“He is a stuntman. He trained with stunt people, and he just did all these great stunts. It was like a lifelong dream,” Lynskey said. “She put on makeup and came off the ground and fell and did all this [flips].”
When asked if his character fought back, Lynskey replied, “I shot him once. Yeah. Why not?” He later joked that the scene was “very romantic.”
Melanie Lynskey And Jason Ritter Won’t Be In Season 2, But Bella Ramsey Will Be!

While it’s hard to imagine how Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter could fit into the second season of the show, which is based on the 2020 video game “The Last Of Us Part II,” showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann told Entertainment Weekly that “Game of Thrones” alum Bella Ramsey will return as Ellie.
The show’s cast admitted that there were “concerns” about Ramsey’s casting, as she was 17 when she was cast as 14-year-old Ellie in season 1. Ramsey is now 19, the same age as Ellie after the time jump in “The Last Of Us Part II.” While some fans speculated that Ramsey would be recast to show the time jump, the show’s cast confirmed that he will reprise his role as Ramsey when season 2 begins.

“I think there is still this constant rhythm of anxiety. All I can say to people is, I myself am very worried about doing a good job on this. Understandably, I am also very anxious,” said Mazin. “If you’re worried about something, I’m probably worried about it, which means we talk about it and think about it.”
Some fans were unhappy to see some episodes in the show deviate from the game. Mazin confirmed that the second season will also be “different” from the game in different ways.

“Sometimes it will be radically different, and sometimes it will be [barely] completely different. But it will be different and it will be its own thing,” he said. “It won’t be the same as the game. It’s going to be a show that Neil and I want to make. But we did it with Bella.”
No release date for “The Last Of Us” season 2 has been announced yet.
