She returned to India on 23 December 2021. Vipul went to the airport to welcome her with a bouquet of flowers.

In an interview, her fiance talked about what he wanted his wife to experience when she moved to Mumbai after marriage. He said,
I want Melis to be a part of the whole process and understand how great weddings are here. Most importantly, he needs to understand that he is moving to Mumbai, which is polluted and overpopulated. During his previous visits, he had been to malls and multiplexes, but I also wanted him to experience the rain and traffic here. Basically, I want him to prepare for life in Mumbai.”

In an interview, her fiancé revealed that he wrote to Melis because they were far from each other. He added,
Long distance relationships are hard and you feel inferior when your partner is not around you at such times. We have had moments of despair over the phone. So to make her happy, I wrote a love letter and right after closing, the last two flights would run and I could send it to her. I was tracking the courier and when he got it I called him and he broke down again reading it. I hope we can be together during this quarantine and get more time to spend together.”
