The “Only Murders In The Building” actress and her husband, Don Gummer, just celebrated their 45th anniversary in September despite their long separation.
The 74-year-old actress and her 76-year-old husband quietly ended the romantic nature of their relationship six years ago, but did so quietly.

The “Big Little Lies” actress and her husband have been separated for more than six years. Both have stated that they will always care for each other, but have decided to end the romantic aspect of their relationship and want to live separately.
“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and although they will always care for each other, they have chosen separate lives,” the actor’s rep said in a statement to PEOPLE.
The duo has not been seen together publicly since the 2018 Oscars.
Streep and Gummer share four children together – Henry, 43, Mamie, 40, Grace, 37, and Louisa, 32.

“Robert Redford taught me that when they were babies: ‘They’re not your props.’ I really admire the way he protects his family,” she told Good Housekeeping in 2008. “It’s something I consciously emulate.”
She, however, opened up a bit when speaking to The Washington Post, admitting that motherhood is harder than acting.
“Thousands. Definitely. Act — it’s praise, money, fulfillment. Being a mother — they don’t even say, ‘Thank you.’ They don’t clear the table unless you say, ‘Excuse me.’ Real life, nothing compares to acting. I can’t call acting work, because it’s so much fun. Even the hard stuff; it’s satisfying to do a difficult thing well.”
He added, “Acting is not like real life. Life is about uncertainty: Is this the right school for this child? All that uncertainty.”

Henry, the son of the famous actress Meryl Streep, spoke out a few years ago admitting that although it is interesting to be a famous son, it also has “downsides”.
“The fact that my mother is who she is can be overshadowed,” she admits. “Sometimes I worry that my story is not good enough. Of course, my mother is part of the story and I don’t get mad when people ask about it, but I hope I have something that can top it as far as an interesting storyline.”
Henry added, “It’s not what I would have chosen but it’s something I have to accept. There are a number of assumptions that go along with that, which tend to be unfair, like recognition somehow helps me. But it also hurts because people start thinking that I don’t work hard and they don’t take me seriously.”
