Fox, 61, recently revealed to Empire that Leonardo DiCaprio’s films played an important role in his decision to leave the world of acting.

For more than a decade, Fox battled Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative neurological disorder. Despite struggling with the condition, she continued to act in various television shows and films. However, the need to quit acting became inevitable when he struggled to remember his lines in “The Good Fight.”

The “Family Ties” star played a lawyer with Parkinson’s disease in the film and said, “That’s when I thought of ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.'”

“There’s a scene where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character can’t remember his lines anymore,” Fox shared. “He went back to his dressing room, and he was yelling at himself in the mirror. Just crazy.”

She added, “I have this moment where I look in the mirror and think, ‘I can’t remember that anymore. Okay, let’s move on.'”

Fox said the decision to do so “was peaceful.”

In an interview with Diversity, the “Back to the Future” star opened up about the hardships she faced as a child living in poverty. Fox spoke about her experience growing up in a struggling family, as her parents lived paycheck to paycheck and had to resort to “dumpster diving for food.”

He was raised in Vancouver, Canada, by his mother, Phyllis Fox, and his father, William Fox, whose wages were not enough to support their family as they struggled to make ends meet.

Despite the challenges, Fox enrolled in acting classes at school, where he began performing in the school play and quickly learned that he had a talent for it. He later dropped out of school to pursue an acting career, which led him to move to Los Angeles.

According to Daily MailThe “Teen Wolf” actor teased that major progress has been made in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease as he says it’s “closer than it’s ever been.”

During a recent interview with Lorraine Kelly about “Lorraine,” Fox said: “I think so [a cure] closer than ever. I think we’ve found these biomarkers that are really big, identify the disease and therefore be able to treat it earlier. It was a huge success, we didn’t expect it to be so soon. We worked on it for a long time, ten years ago we talked about it.”

He added, Within five years, they will be able to tell if you have it and if you will get it and how to treat it.”
