There is an ongoing legal battle in Michael Jackson’s estate as the icon’s youngest son, Blanket, clashes with his grandmother.
The late King of Pop’s mother, Katherine, is blocked by her son—whose real name is Bigi Jackson—from using the family estate to pay his appeal bills.
This happened after the grandmother and her grandson lost their case against the executor of Michael’s estate.
Blanket Jackson Wants Grandma to Pay Her Legal Fees Without Jackson’s Estate

Blanket recently filed legal documents against his grandmother, asking the court to prevent her from using money from Michael’s estate to fund an appeal of the previous decision.
The “Smooth Criminal” hitmaker’s son explained that he and his grandmother had presented their arguments against the agreement made by the executors of Michael’s estate. Unfortunately, the court ruled against them, and the legal case ended.
However, Katherine refused to back down without a fight and decided to appeal the decision — a move that Blanket emphasized in her legal documents was not in the cards, especially if she wanted her father’s estate to foot the bill.
Like her siblings, Blanket is also an heir to Michael’s estate and has the right to fight how her late father’s money is spent. In a document obtained by TMZhe stated that his grandmother’s appeal had little chance of winning.
Michael Jackson’s Youngest Son Believes His Grandmother’s Plan Has No Merit

Blanket continues to rain on his grandmother’s parade in legal filings, insisting that her appeal has no merit for the trust’s beneficiaries. Simply put, he doesn’t want Michael’s estate to pay for a case they won’t win.
The youngest of the “Beat It” singer’s children may not care about the appeal case as long as his grandmother pays for it out of her own pocket. Accordingly, it is possible for Katherine to pay her appeal case bill easily.
Before news of Blanket’s case against her grandmother broke, the executor of Michael’s estate claimed that Katherine had enjoyed a seven-figure allowance for the year — money that her grandson might have wanted her to use instead of the estate fund.
Although she wanted no part of the appeals bill, Blanket agreed her grandmother was entitled to a share of the attorney fees incurred from their legal battle against the executors of Michael’s estate. He asked the court to use its best judgment to award Katherine a reasonable amount to cover these costs.

As noted, the appeal drama began after Blanket and Katherine lost their case against the executor of Michael’s estate. The two teamed up to prevent these officials from going ahead with the big business deals they vehemently opposed.
It is unclear what business transaction sparked the feud between the estate’s executors and Michael’s family, as they actively hid it throughout the legal saga. However, a new report suggests it may be linked to the sale of the late singer’s music catalogue.
The estate’s executors reportedly reached an agreement with Sony to sell about half of Michael’s music catalog for $600 million. Although Blanket and Katherine failed to win their case, it remains to be seen if this business transaction will continue without further interruption.

Four months before being charged with a lawsuit from her grandson, Katherine made waves for allegedly owing the government a large sum of unpaid taxes.
The shocking news broke last November when the California State Franchise Tax Board filed a lien against the King of Pop’s mother. They claim he failed to pay fees from 2018 to 2021.
The outstanding amount is $909,263.94, with a lien on Katherine’s Calabasas home. At the time, it was believed that Michael’s estate might resolve its crisis following a reported music catalog deal.

Fourteen years after the death of the King of Pop, his family is getting justice for the man who stole his private belongings after his heartbreaking death in 2009.
Michael’s estate filed suit against Jeffré Phillips to recover the stolen goods; however, both parties ended their grievances with a settlement in October 2023.
It is unclear if the late singer’s belongings were returned or if the criminals removed the aggregator’s value of the stolen property, which amounted to up to $1 million.
Michael’s belongings taken by Phillips included the nightgown he was wearing hours before his death, the resuscitation tube used by paramedics on the late singer, and even his California driver’s license.
