Michael Strahan Replaced On GMA Amid Attention To ‘Personal Family Matters’

It’s been two weeks and Michael Strahan is still missing from his hosting duties on “Good Morning America!”

The former National Football League star has been absent from the “GMA” screen due to “personal family matters.” In his absence, ABC anchor Linsey Davis has stepped in alongside regular hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

Longtime fans of Michael are familiar with his bond with his beloved family, including his four children — Tanita, Michael Jr., and twins Sophia and Isabella. So it’s no surprise that he chooses to miss weeks of work and social media updates to focus on things about them.

To that end, the absence of the football player turned television personality on the screen was announced in a statement issued by an ABC spokesperson. The statement reads:

“Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”

During the father-of-four’s absence, Linsey often filled in for him, working with Rebecca Jarvis. In the midst of being away from “GMA” and keeping a low profile on Instagram, with his last post on Oct. 25, Michael returned to Fox’s pregame show, Fox NFL Sunday, for Week 10 after missing Weeks 8 and 9 this weekend.

By resuming his work as host, it is likely that he will return to “GMA” on Tuesday, as he usually does not work on Mondays during the football season due to his filming obligations for Fox.

Although he remains tight-lipped about the current situation, the former New York Giants player previously made airwaves when he had a heart-to-heart conversation with football safety Damar Hamlin following a near-fatal in-game fall earlier this year.

Football fans will remember that Damar suffered a heart attack during the Week 17 Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Her recovery was miraculous and she talked about it a month later with Michael. As noted by The Blast, the 25-year-old said:

“That just put things in perspective for me, you know, hearing it from the doctor. Things could have been different and the details of the situation of everything that happened on the field – it could be – it could be the last for me.”

The Buffalo Bills player added, “I’m just grateful [God] gave me a second chance, you know, just to live my life and come out almost without a scratch on me,” Hamlin told Strahan in the interview. “Just to be able to move on.”
