Michelle Trachtenberg has pushed back against the “haters” online.
The 38-year-old actress responded to critics’ supposed comments about her appearance following a recent selfie posted on her social media. She also updates her page with new photos to cover up the notion of being unhealthy or having plastic surgery.
Michelle Trachtenberg Guarantees Her Fans’ Well-Being
Concerns about Trachtenberg’s appearance arose after she shared a selfie with “Spy Kids” star Alexa PenaVega during a visit to the hair salon on January 17.
Almost immediately, several comments expressed concern, with one fan noting potential signs such as “yellowing eyes, hair loss and sunken features,” suggesting the need for medical evaluation for possible hormonal, autoimmune or liver disorders.
“Michelle you look sick. are you ok?” another asked under the image with the caption, “These kids….now the adults are ready! Love this girl.” In response, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum wrote:
“Explain to me how I look sick. Did you lose the calendar and not realize I’m not 14 years old. I am 38 years old. How sad that you leave such a comment.”
The fan in question immediately apologized, explaining that their comments were not meant to be disrespectful and stated that they stemmed from genuine concern for Trachtenberg’s well-being.
Trachtenberg uploaded another photo later that day, along with the caption, “I’ve received some comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery. I am happy and healthy. Check yourselves haters.”
Despite her reassurance, the post prompted more fans to voice concerns about the actress’ well-being. “Nobody talks about plastic surgery…they talk about your heart being shut down,” commented one.

A second Instagram user said, “They’re showing yellow in the whites of your eyes. Nothing to do with plastic surgery,” as all three emphasized, “Girl we love you. Your eyes are YELLOW. That’s alarming. No hate here. Just real- really care about your health,” and a fourth shared, “Anyone with yellow eyeballs is unhealthy and needs to see a doctor.”
In response, Trachtenberg took to the social media platform again, this time sharing a selfie showing off her new hairstyle and explaining via caption:
“Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition, no problem. Why hate? Get a calendar.”
Just like the previous post, this one also received comments from well-meaning fans doubling down on Trachtenberg’s need to see a medical professional. Meanwhile, this supporter simply conveyed:
“Michelle, many of us grew up with your career. We just want you to be healthy. You are one of us, and we want to keep it.”
Trachtenberg’s View of Valentine’s Day Was Ruined by His Schoolmates
Back in 2020, Trachtenberg made headlines for posting his sentiments about the new meaning of Valentine’s Day for him. At that time, he uploaded a picture of himself as a child posing in a tree house.

Reminiscing about not liking school on Valentine’s Day, a time meant for love and acceptance, the “Harriet The Spy” star began:
“So. Today is valentine week. In my day, all the kids had to write ab—— Valentine’s Day cards to everyone in the class. I never got one on purpose, everyone gets a valentine card. No one ever gave me one and they thought I didn’t need attention. The kids and the staff all laughed and thought everyone had to get it, being an actor since I was 3, it didn’t seem like I needed it.”
Continuing his detailed account, Trachtenberg elaborates on the perceived injustice of the day and the challenges he faced, highlighting the responsibility of working to support his family in covering the bills.
This is challenging for me to post because people are always contacting me on social media saying oh, my brother, my sister went to school with you; you are a good friend! Wrong. The kids were cruel,” she added before revealing that although she has moved on from the experience, the effects left physical and emotional scars.
She then ended with a message of resilience and empowerment, urging anyone who has faced bullying to not let their worth be defined by others and to appreciate “the three teachers who protected me.”
