Mick Jagger Slammed For Planning To Leave Kids Zero Of His $500M Fortune

Mick Jagger may be planning to leave his eight children nothing of his multi-million fortune after his death.

During a new interview, the singer hinted at giving away all of his $500 million fortune to charity. As for why he might have chosen to do this, Jagger shared that his children don’t need his wealth to live their lives.

He also considered the possibility of AI being instrumental in continuing the legacy of his band, the Rolling Stones, posthumously.

Jagger recently hinted that he has no plans to let his children inherit his $500 million fortune, which comes from his share of the Rolling Stones’ back catalog.

Talk with The Wall Street Journal, the famous band’s frontman said that his eight children, blessed by five different women, do not need his wealth to get on with life. He added that his giving to charity might “do good in the world.”

Her statement led to heated debate on social media, with many asking why she would leave her children with nothing.

One person write, “That’s malignant narcissism in action,” while others asked, “Why are so many rich people doing this? Can someone explain?”

A third person joked, “After all the sleeping and completely failing to provide a normal childhood for his children, giving them money is the least he can do.”

Others called Jagger a “helicopter parent,” saying, “Imagine not leaving a legacy for your family, why because you can’t teach them to be smart with money? Anyone who says, ‘I want my kids to learn how to build their own wealth,’ are just helicopter parents who would rather outsource teaching their children life skills than help.”

In the meantime, Jagger and other band members did not intend to emulate the actions of artists such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, David Crosby and Paul Simon, who have sold all or part of their publishing rights for millions of dollars.

The catalog includes all the albums the band recorded after 1971, such as “Sticky Fingers,” “Exile on Main St.” and “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll.” For their earlier songs, the publishing rights belonged to ABKCO, a music company founded by Allen Klein, who managed the group from 1965 to 1970.

Elsewhere in his interview, Jagger weighed in on the rise of AI and the possibility of keeping singers relevant even after their deaths.

“You can have a business after death now, right? You can have a posthumous tour,” Jagger said.

He went on to reference the huge success achieved by the Swedish pop group ABBA through their series of virtual concerts, which featured virtual avatars of the band, portraying them as they appeared in 1979. The show also used originally recorded vocals, accompanied by a live instrumental band on the stage.

Now, Jagger feels that technology has “really moved on” since then, suggesting that more could be done in the future in relation to the Rolling Stones’ legacy. The singer, along with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, are the surviving members of the band after drummer Charlie died in August 2021 from complications from heart surgery.

Earlier this week, Jagger shared a photo of himself taken during a recent trip to Italy.

The music veteran was casually dressed, wearing a beige long-sleeved round neck with the sleeves neatly rolled up. He matched the top with gray pants and a black baseball cap. To complete his look, Jagger opted for a pair of black trainers, which made his explorations in Italy a breeze.

In one of the photos, the singer strikes a stylish pose in front of a vibrant yellow car. Another image captures him holding a bridge railing, while a third shot showcases Jagger, smiling broadly, inside what appears to be a cave.

“It was great spending time in Italy recently!” the 80-year-old captioned the photo, which has since garnered nearly 200,000 likes from his fans on Instagram.

Why He Announced His Relationship

The singer recently told WSJ Magazine that although he likes to keep “boundaries” in relation to his personal life, speculation about his love life forced him to go public about his relationship with ex-ballerina Melanie Hamrick, with whom he shares a son, Deveraux, 6.

“People used to post stuff and everyone would think, whoever the girl you’re standing next to… “Is that your new girlfriend?” You know. But everyone knows now,” he told the publication.

At the time, Jagger also shared that his family was quite supportive in all his endeavors. He added, “I have this amazing family that supports me. And I have, you know, little kids—that makes you feel like you’re relevant.”
