Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino recently had a scary parenting moment that made him wish he had taken CPR lessons sooner.
The reality TV star, best known for her days on MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” got the shock of her life when her son Romeo Reign started choking on her dinner. The terrifying moment was captured on his home ring camera, which he shared on social media.

In a video shared on Instagram, the Sorrentino family was captured enjoying dinner with Romeo sitting at the end of the table. On one side is an unidentified woman, who is holding a child, possibly the couple’s baby girl, while Mike sits in a chair away from his son.
His wife, Lauren Pesce, can be seen working in the kitchen enjoying a conversation with another woman and Mike when things take a turn for the worse. After grabbing his food, Romeo starts coughing and clutches his throat, prompting someone to ask if the dish is “too hot” for him to handle.
However, it became so painful that the 2-year-old choked, and Mike jumped into action, leaving his seat to start patting Romeo on the back. The stuck food didn’t immediately come out causing him to move the boy away from the table hitting his back.

Meanwhile, Lauren rushed to the kitchen counter while calmly asking her husband to get a tool to ease Romeo’s pain. Neither parent raised their voice or panicked, which kept their son equally calm until they were able to remove the food stuck in his throat with the device.
Finally out of harm’s way, the child began to cough and cry as his mother wrapped him in a bear hug. As she consoles him, Lauren uses the incident as a teaching moment and explains what has happened to Romeo.
In the caption of the post, Mike described the incident as “THE SCARESTEST MOMENT OF OUR LIVES” and revealed the situation was even more horrifying than what was seen on the ring camera footage as Romeo couldn’t breathe.
“It was a normal dinner at the Situation when suddenly, without notice, Romeo started choking on his favorite pesto gnocchi pasta !! He was bent over and not breathing,” the TV personality wrote before praising the couple’s calm reaction to the event, adding:
“I am very proud of how my wife and I did not panic, did not hesitate, and finally gave up the food that blocked the airway and saved her life. I love my family with all my heart and I am very grateful that everything has worked out.”
Parents also learned a valuable lesson from the terrifying moment as Mike ended his caption with their future plans, writing: “It’s safe to say we’re now taking CPR lessons, and Romeo won’t be getting gnocchi anytime soon.”
Mike Sorrentino’s Son Looks Like a Character From ‘Boss Baby’
When Mike welcomed his first child, Romeo, in May 2021, he never expected his son to have a fictional twin. The “Dancing with the Stars” alum wowed the internet with her newborn’s uncanny resemblance to the character from the children’s animation “Boss Baby.”
The proud dad shared a photo of baby Romeo with perfectly raised eyebrows and an adorable pout next to a photo of the iconic “Boss Baby” star (voiced by Alec Baldwin). The resemblance between the pair is undeniable, with Mike captioning the post: “Boss baby Sitch.”
His wife, Lauren, agreed in the comments, writing, “My dear little boss.” Mike’s “Jersey Shore” co-star Snooki echoed similar sentiments with the comment “STAHP IT” and three teary face emojis. More agreement came from fans, with an IG user writing: “How come her eyebrows are so perfect?!”
Mike may be looking for another fictional character to resemble his next child as he and Lauren are expecting their third bundle of joy. The couple announced the happy news in September 2023, just nine months after welcoming their daughter Mia Bella.
They shared updates on Instagram, dropping a carousel of heartwarming family photos. The photo featured an autumn theme with fall colors and pumpkins while the group posed with a strip of ultrasound images.
“Good things come in threes. Adding another pumpkin to our patch ?? Baby #3 coming March 2024,” Mike captioned the touching post. Lauren, fully aware that things were about to get busier, commented: “Three under three. Here we go.”
His beloved MTV crew couldn’t contain their excitement either, with Pauly D cheering, “Hat trick!!!” Vinny Guadagnino added, “Anotha one,” while Snooki warmly welcomed them to the “3 club!!!”
