While it appears all parties are on good terms with Rapp taking time off from the series, Page Six reports that the “Mean Girls” actress has hired a top Hollywood lawyer to get her off the show.
An inside source revealed that “both sides have been working to work things out,” adding, “There are a lot of egos at play.” However, different sources insist that there are no ego-driven issues between either party. However, they confirmed that Rapp violated the agreement by announcing a major music tour without the permission of his show boss.
They revealed, “Reneé wanted to leave the show to go on tour, and they were looking for the best creative solution for her departure, but she announced the tour without getting permission from the show.”
“Mindy is a multi-hyphenate and supports people who want to do different things and play to their talents, but she needs to think about what happened to Reneé’s character. This is not how people want it [Rapp’s exit] will happen,” added the unnamed source.

He describes his upbringing as “a very backward, very conservative area in Huntersville in North Carolina.” He added, “Everyone is so crazy and homophobic. It just sucks.”
Revealing that he struggled to accept his sexuality at the age of 14, the singer recalls “full-on tears” and having “panic attacks” after he realized he liked women.
Unfortunately for the promising star, his initial denial of his sexuality hindered his acting skills when he joined the HBO series, admitting he was completely “shocked” on set. In his words,
“[it affected my self-worth] terribly. ‘College Girl’s First Year’ was terrible. It was really bad, because at the time, I was in a heteronormative relationship. She continued, “I’ll never forget me sitting on my front porch and calling one of my friends, and being like, ‘I’m straight, I think I’m straight. I can’t do this, I can’t do this, and they’re like,’ What’s going on with you’?
The Huntersville native stated that she was constantly panicking and was so shocked by the idea of her sexuality “being off limits or people laughing at me or me laughing at myself that I hated my first year of filming.”
Rapp also revealed that his impostor syndrome was compounded by intrusive questions on set; he recalled, “I did this scene and also had gay guys come up to me and be like ‘Are you gay.’ He explained that the questions made him angry and made him second-guess everything about himself.
