As the Minecraft 1.21 update looms on the horizon, players have an exciting opportunity to explore new features via Java Edition snapshots and Bedrock Edition previews. One standout addition is the crafter block, a game changer that allows automatic item crafting when supplied with redstone signals.
Crafter blocks take it to the next level while automation has become part of Minecraft, allowing players to craft items without direct input and opening up new possibilities for redstone machinery and in-game farms.
Accessing Crafter Blocks:
Before delving into auto-crafting, make sure you’re playing on the latest snapshot or beta preview with Minecraft 1.21 features enabled in your Experimental Features world settings. Once set, follow these steps to get crafter blocks:
- Craft Materials:
- Craft Table
- Five iron ingots
- Two pieces of red stone dust
- Dropper block
- Manufacturing process:
- Use the craft table to combine the above materials and make craft blocks.
Preparing Auto-Craft:
Now that you have a crafter block, you can set up a basic auto-crafting:
- Placement and Interaction:
- Place the crafter block in the desired location.
- Interact with the block to open its interface.
- Item Selection:
- Enter the materials needed to craft an item, just like using a crafting table.
- Lock any unused slots to prevent crafters from creating unwanted items.
- Red Stone Activation:
- Connect the crafter block to an active redstone signal source.
- The crafter will craft the specified item when it receives a redstone signal.
Creating an Automatic Activation Loop:
To fully automate the process, consider setting up a simple redstone clock:
- Making a Red Stone Repeater:
- Make four red stone repeaters.
- Formation:
- Set the repeater in a cross formation with an empty space in the middle.
- Make sure the repeaters point clockwise to each other.
- Connecting the Repeater:
- Connect four repeaters with red stone dust.
- Connecting to Block Crafter:
- Connect the redstone clock to the carpentry block using redstone dust.
- Repeater Settings:
- Set the repeater to its maximum setting, creating a delay in the loop.
- Redstone Torch Activation:
- Place the red stone torch in the center of the repeater and break it.
- This creates a redstone signal loop that automatically activates the crafter block.
Experiment with Automation:
While a basic redstone clock provides automatic activation, players with redstone expertise can experiment with various setups. Crafter blocks can synergize with funnels and droppers to streamline resource fetching and item deposition, offering endless possibilities for automation.
