An Indiana man who crashed his truck and was trapped inside it for nearly a week when he was found by two good Samaritans broke his silence on social media Sunday, with a thank you.
The driver, identified as Matthew Reum, 27, was westbound on Interstate 94 on Dec. 20 when his truck went off the road and into a ditch before going airborne, rolling several times and ending up in a creek under a bridge. , according to preliminary investigations.
The crash left Reum trapped in the truck, unable to reach his cell phone and call for help.
Six days later, two fishermen looking for a fishing hole found a lorry under the overpass with a body inside.
When one of the men touched the body, he was surprised when Reum turned and spoke.
On New Year’s Eve, Reum turned to Facebook to break the silence to the “hundreds and thousands of people” who had tried to contact or offered their donations.
“You took an ordinary person who had a miracle happen and made him the most grateful person, and I can’t thank you enough,” Reum said. “While I live this, in itself, is a Christmas miracle, the generosity I have shown has expanded my heart three sizes this year.”
