Missing Carnival Cruise passenger seen in surveillance video jumping off ship’s deck

A Louisiana father at the center of a massive search after he disappeared from a Carnival cruise ship has since been seen on surveillance footage jumping overboard, according to officials.

The Coast Guard has been searching a large 200-mile area in dangerous weather conditions for Tyler Barnett, 28, after he was reported missing Monday from the Carnival Glory bound for Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The father of two daughters was last seen by loved ones just before midnight when he said he headed to his room, but his bed was never made.

He was seen jumping from the ship’s deck at about 1:40 a.m. Monday after first boarding a lifeboat to get there, a Carnival spokesman told The Post, citing unreleased surveillance footage.

The rescue team then narrowed down the search area where the ship would be, ie The Coast Guard said on Tuesday, confirmed that the footage “shows the man jumping off the cruise ship.”

A day after the search began, cruise officials were told the missing man might be wearing a different shirt, which expanded the profile of the guest they were looking for in the security footage.

The missing boy’s sister, Destiny Barnett, told NBC News that she and 13 other relatives were also on the cruise.

“It makes you feel crazy to be stuck on a ship where everyone is having a good time,” he said. “It should be a holiday, but for us, it’s hell.”

Her grandmother, Dirlean Tate Mason – who was not on the cruise – said that Barnett worked on a river barge in Houma, Louisiana, and was the father of twin girls.

The Coast Guard used an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to search for the missing man before suspending their search at about 9 p.m. Tuesday when conditions became too dangerous.

The cruise ship’s care team is now supporting her family who were traveling with her and are still on board, a spokeswoman told The Post.

According to the cruise line’s website, the 952-foot Carnival Glory can accommodate up to 2,980 passengers and 1,150 crew members.
