In a sad event, the youngest child of Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King has died at the age of 62. His death was revealed by the King Center, which stated that Dexter died after “a courageous battle with prostate cancer.”
His wife of 11 years, Leah Weber King, said in a statement, “He passed peacefully in his sleep at home with me in Malibu. He gave everything and fought this terrible disease until the end. As with all challenges in his life, he faced this obstacle with courage and strength.”
Other members of his family have spoken out about his death, with his siblings speaking of how devastated they are at the loss of their brother.

Dexter’s sister, Rev. Dr. Bernice King, said, “Words cannot describe the sadness I feel for losing another sibling. I pray to be given the strength to get through this difficult time.”
Following Bernice was her brother, Martin Luther King III, who spoke of how heartbreaking the loss of Dexter was for the family, adding, “The sudden shock was devastating. It’s hard to have the right words at a moment like this. We ask for your prayers at this time for the entire King family.”
Dexter lives a great life and is famous for his uncanny resemblance to his iconic father. The actor portrayed his father in the 2002 television movie “The Rosa Parks Story.”

Rep. Barbara Lee wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dexter Scott King, MLK’s youngest son. Sending prayers & condolences to all his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace and power.”
Actress and comedian Loni Love said, “My condolences to @BerniceKing @OfficialMLK3 and the entire family… May God give you all strength in this terrible time. Dexter Scott King, MLK’s youngest son, died of prostate cancer.”
