A group of more than 100 robbers deliberately crashed a Kia into a small bakery in Compton, Calif., before they flooded and ransacked the store during a night of rampage on the streets earlier this week.
Thieves had gathered in the area to illegally take over the street around 3 a.m. Tuesday before traveling a mile to Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food.
When they reached the locked store, a white Kia backed up to the front door, opening the way for a crowd of looters to get their loot.
Security footage captured chaos inside the store as mobs filled their hands and pockets with as much as they could before the store opened in three hours.
The majority of robbers try to hide their identity either by wearing a mask or holding the veil over their face with their hands.
Meat scales, meat, groceries and lottery tickets were among the items stolen in Tuesday morning’s brutal robbery, according to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Capt. Melissa Ramirez.

Police had received two calls about a car on fire and a road takeover outside the bakery shortly before the robbery took place.
Neighborhood residents say they don’t feel safe amid ongoing crime in the South LA city.
“When I went in there and saw that you had taken the car and pushed the entrance, it was very disappointing to me,” one resident told NBC Los Angeles. “People come and vandalize, it’s just scary.”
Local politicians are working to push back the frequency of illegal street takeovers following the path of robbers’ rampage in the bakery.

“Ensuring the safety of the businesses and residents of our city is our top priority,” Compton Democratic Mayor Emma Sharif said at a city council meeting Tuesday night, hours after the vandalism of the bakery.
In the meeting, Sharif urged city councilors to sign an ordinance that would increase citations for those involved in road acquisition.

But not everyone is happy with the government’s response, with many residents frustrated by the lack of action.
“They’ve been out there raging, tearing up our streets,” a frustrated resident told KCAL News. “It’s like, when is this going to stop?”
“So sick and tired of hearing this crap every day,” another cried during the public comments section of the meeting.

Takeovers have been a problem throughout Los Angeles County for the past several years, with city and county officials trying different methods to thwart the gathering.
A woman, whose brother was killed by a car fleeing a road takeover last year, has been desperate for action by the city.
“Every time the road takes over, we remember our nightmare, a nightmare we’ve been living for almost a year now and I don’t want anything to happen to another family. I want to know, what is the plan?” Cindi Enamorado asked a city council member.

The heartbroken sister shared that she had met with several city council members to discuss approaches the city could take, such as education, infrastructure and enforcement.
“We need to create a firewall, we need to stop allowing these kids who come from other cities to terrorize and destroy the city, we need to take this seriously because at this point, it’s just a matter of time. before another life is lost.”
No injuries or arrests were reported in Tuesday’s robbery.
