Mohammed Ashiq (also spelled Mohammed Aashiq or Muhammad Aashiq) was born on Tuesday, 24 November 1998 (age 25 years; in 2023) in Mangaluru (commonly known as Mangalore), Karnataka, India. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He completed his schooling at Milagres High School, Mangaluru.

He started learning to cook when he was in the 7th grade and started making food for his family and friends who praised his cooking skills and encouraged him to pursue a career in cooking. He wants to further his studies in the field of hotel management; however, his financial situation was not good which forced him to start his juice hub.

Mohammed Ashiq opened his juice shop called Kulukki Hub in the late 2010s and experimented with dishes in his restaurant. He later won the cooking reality TV show Master Class Chef of the Year Season 1 in 2020 which aired on Namma TV.

He auditioned for MasterChef India Season 7 in 2023 which aired on SET and SonyLIV; however, he did not qualify for the Top 40 and was eliminated. He returned to his juice shop business after the eviction and started preparing for MasterChef India Season 8 auditions, but his mother wanted him to move to Dubai and work as a chef there. Ashiq convinced his mother to allow him to participate in MasterChef India Season 8 airing on SonyLIV in 2023.

He later entered the show by making his signature dish, Mangalorean style Fish Fry, winning the show by beating Suraj Thapa, Rukhsaar Sayeed, and Nambie Jessica Marak in the finals, and won a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.

After winning the show, he revealed that he was the only income earner in his family, credited his family and friends for their support and said that he would use the cash prize to open a restaurant in partnership with his brother-in-law.

He also said that he will open a small studio to make YouTube videos about different types of dishes and cooking styles. he said,

Coming back with stronger determination after almost missing last season was difficult, but I devoted myself fully to the culinary craft. This victory is not just mine; it is for every dreamer who defies the odds to pursue their aspirations. I have grown significantly and seen a remarkable change in my cooking skills, all thanks to the amazing boot camp experience.”
