A mother of four struggling to keep money in the bank has accused lawmakers of being “unaware” of how much high inflation is affecting families across the country.
Amber Bergeron of Louisiana voiced her anger to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in particular on Friday for sharing a clip declaring that inflation is just “propaganda” – apparently contradicting a recent study revealing that 61% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
“I just wonder how he thought it was propaganda. I mean, has he checked his electric bill? Did he see the cost of groceries compared to last year?” Bergeron said on “Fox & Friends First.”
“If you use his Walmart app, he can look and see the difference. I wonder what his budget is that it’s not something he’s worried about. It’s obviously not a concern in his household. It’s not something he has to worry about. I wonder how people can be neglected.”
The Bronx congressman shared a video to his Instagram story Thursday from the left-leaning New Zealand Liberation League of Aotearoa in which a woman claimed the “propaganda” around inflation was designed to protect “greedy shareholders,” who were really to blame for rising global costs.
The White House has repeatedly touted a “Bidenomics” plan to combat price increases, but Bergeron said he has seen little change in his daily pay.

Bergeron’s electric bills, medical costs and insurance premiums are the latest in a string of necessities he’s noticed skyrocketing prices recently, he said.
Although they don’t skimp on getting by from week to week, the Bergerons can’t save enough for a rainy day fund — a disaster they faced when their truck broke down this week.
“Usually if you’re in trouble and you don’t have money in your reserve, you’ll go and you’ll get a loan,” the mother said. “But interest rates are so high right now, it makes monthly notes impossible.”
To make up for the savings deficit, her husband takes as much extra work time as possible — which means he spends less time with his young family.
When asked about the overall situation, Bergeron said it looked “not too good.”
“And I know this is a common thing for most Americans right now, to worry about this,” he said.

On Friday, President Biden boasted that monthly jobs data showed about 187,000 new jobs were created in August, but ignored questions about data showing that more than six in 10 Americans struggled to make ends meet in July.
The surprising survey shows a 59% increase over the same month last year and shows that Americans are spending more on everything from food to prescriptions to entertainment.
The survey coincided with data just released from the federal government Thursday showing that the Personal Consumption Expenditure index, the main measure of inflation closely watched by the Fed, rose 0.2% from the previous month.
