Mom of Shani Louk, whose body was paraded in streets by Hamas, hopes she’ll be found alive

The mother of a young tattoo artist whose body was paraded through the streets of Gaza said her daughter “panicked” and was trying to leave an outdoor music festival when Hamas terrorists kidnapped her during their surprise attack on Israel on Saturday morning.

Shani Louk, 23, rushed away after Hamas attacked the festival near Kibbutz Re’im, close to the Gaza Strip, telling his mother that he was heading to his car after rockets started going off at about 6am.

“He panicked a little, and he said he was going to take the car now and go to a safe location. And then we stopped talking and since then I haven’t heard anything from him,” his mother Ricarda Louk told CNN.

But when the young Israeli-German tries to escape the chaos, Hamas terrorists block his exit.

“He went to the car and they had militants standing by the car and shooting so people couldn’t reach their car even to leave and that’s when they took him,” added his mother.

Hours after telling his mother he was leaving, Shani’s family came across disturbing footage of his seemingly lifeless body lying in the back of a pickup truck surrounded by armed militant men.

The gunmen chanted “Allahu Akbar” — Arabic for “God is Great” — as they paraded Shani’s body, eventually taking it to the Gaza Strip, the video showed.

The disturbing footage was the last time Shani’s family saw her, although they remain hopeful she will be found alive.

“Yes, this is the last we see. We are always looking for more videos, more news, something that shows him in some other place but we can’t see anything yet,” said his mother.

Although they have not seen any other videos or images of Shani, her mother said someone tried to use her credit card in the Gaza Strip several times, although it is not clear who.

“The video, you know, it looks really bad but I still have hope,” his mother said.

“I hope they don’t take the body for negotiations. I hope he’s still alive somewhere. We have nothing left to hope for, we try to believe.”

Shani is a tattoo artist and hairdresser, according to what appears to be her social media account.

He was among hundreds of victims in Israel when Hamas held a dance party near Kibbutz Urim and other Israeli communities Saturday in a surprise invasion, which quickly became the biggest attack on Israel in about 50 years.

The brutal attack in the Jewish state has left more than 800 Israelis dead with more than 2,150 injured and at least 100 more kidnapped.
