Moon Moon Sen is an Indian Politician. He was an actor before his entry into politics. She is the daughter of famous Bengali actress Suchitra Sen. She married a scion of the Royal Family of Tripura State, Bharat Dev Verma. He is contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Asansol Constituency.

Moon Moon Sen was born on Sunday, 28 March 1954 (age 69 years; in 2023) in 24 Parganas, Kolkata. His zodiac sign is Aries. He got his primary education from Loretto Convent Shillong and Loretto House Kolkata. He went on to study from Somerville College Oxford, England. He has a Master’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University. Moon Moon Sen was not always interested in acting. She worked as a teacher at Ballygunge Girls’ School and a year later at Chitrabani School; where he used to teach Graphics. He worked at All India Radio and later, took a teaching job at Ballygunge Government High School, Kolkata. He got married and had a daughter before he joined the film industry.
He is also a businessman and owns an interior design and consulting shop. She always says that her husband is the reason for her success and has supported her in all her endeavours. She credits her husband for encouraging her to join politics. Sen joined the TMC after his mother’s death in 2014. He was nominated by Mamata Banerjee as the TMC candidate from the Bankura Lok Sabha Constituency in West Bengal.

He belongs to the Kayastha Family. His father, Dibanath Sen, is one of the richest businessmen in Kolkata. His mother, Suchitra Sen, is an actress and has starred in many Bengali and Bollywood films. She was always considered a girl born with a silver spoon. He got the best education from the best schools and colleges. She married a scion of the Royal Family of Tripura State, Bharat Dev Verma. They have two daughters, Raima Sen and Riya Sen.
Acting Career
He started his career with Bengali films. He was very successful and was offered many projects. He got contracts from other film industries like Marathi, Kannada, Telegu, Malayalam, and Bhojpuri. It also took him to meet Rajinikanth.
He made his Bollywood debut with the 1984 film Andar Bahaar, starring Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. He was noticed immediately; because he played a very brave role. Actors used to shy away from such daring scenes in films in the 1980s.
Although she was not very successful in Bollywood, she was known for being brave. She was one of the first actresses to start the trend of filming in a bikini. Over the years, he has done many Bollywood films with bold stances and daring roles. She has always said that she is comfortable with her body and has no problem if the filming is done in a good sport. He said that he would give birth to all, even at the age of 70.
In 2004, his film- My Karma, directed by Korak Day, won international acclaim. The film received many International awards. Moon Moon Sen’s role as a “tough and sweet Indian wife, standing like a rock behind her husband” was especially praised in the film that earned her international acclaim.

Political career
He joined the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2014. Mamata Banerjee announced her name as the TMC candidate from West Bengal’s Bankura Lok Sabha Constituency. Interestingly he did not know that he would be named for the Lok Sabha elections. His friends called him to congratulate him on his nomination; that’s when he got the news. He contested the election and won from the Bankura seat and was elected to the Lok Sabha. He defeated 9-time CPI (M) MP Basudeb Acaria from Bankura. It was a big win for Moon Moon Sen and TMC.
For the 2019 General Election, the name of Subrata Mukherjee was announced as the TMC candidate from Bankura. Sen was given a ticket to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from Asansol Constituency against Union Minister Babul Supriyo. When his name was announced as a candidate for the Asansol seat, Babul Supriyo tweeted-

He lost the 2019 Lok Sabha election to Babul Supriyo.
Controversy
- In 2014, when he was campaigning in the Bankura Constituency, the roads of Bankura were washed so that no inconvenience was caused to Moon Moon Sen, Raima Sen, and Riya Sen by the dust blowing through the roads. This move was widely criticized by Bankura residents as well as other politicians; because Bankura has a huge water shortage and people don’t have water to drink.
- In 2015, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improving India’s image in the world. He was criticized by some of his party workers for this statement.
- On April 29, 2019, when he was asked about the ongoing violence at the Asansol polling station, he responded by saying that because he woke up late and had his bed tea late, he knew nothing about the incident. He was beaten and widely criticized for this statement.
- On 14 May 2019, he was criticized when he was asked about the violence in West Bengal and the vandalism of the statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar during BJP National President Amit Shah’s roadshow, and he replied-
It is a bit of violence and it can be ignored because there is violence in every state, just look at Uttar Pradesh”.
