Morgan Freeman recently canceled his UK press tour after contracting what doctors called a “contagious infection.” The 86-year-old Hollywood legend was supposed to attend a press tour for his new show, “Special Ops: Lioness.” However, at first he developed a fever, which worsened into an infection.
A cast representative spoke to Daily Mail and confirmed the news of his health emergency. They said, “Morgan has a fever and her doctor thinks she has a contagious infection, so she canceled her trip. He is fine now.”
Freeman’s co-stars, Zoe Saldana, and Nicole Kidman, continued on to the UK without him. The two actors were at a recent screening of the show by Paramount+ and were interviewed on “The One Show.” During their interview, host Alex Jones commented on Freeman’s absence and said he was “sad” about it.
Morgan Freeman Also Struggles With Illness

Freeman has famously struggled with fibromyalgia for years. It is a condition that causes severe fatigue and pain throughout the body, and there is no cure at all, only treatment. The “Million Dollar Baby” actress experienced the condition after being involved in a terrible car accident in 2008.
After the accident, Freeman also suffered paralysis of his left hand, which forced him to wear a compression glove for years. During a 2012 interview with Esquire Magazinehost Tom Chiarella talked about the damage to the actor’s hand.
He said, per Sun, “It hurts when he walks, when he sits, when he gets up from his sofa, and when he missteps in the damp meadow. More than painful. It looked like pain, though he never mentioned it. Despite surgery to repair the nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand.”
Chiarella went on to say, “It’s held tightly by a compression glove most of the time to make sure the blood doesn’t pool there. It’s the clamp, the pain, the icy arching of useless limbs.”
His New Show ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Is A Spy Thriller
Freeman’s new show, “Special Ops: Lioness,” is a spy thriller based on a real CIA program. It follows the experiences of a marine trying to balance his personal and professional life as a CIA operative fighting terrorism for the agency.
The new series is written by Taylor Sheridan, known for his Western stories. It is executive produced by Saldana and Kidman and made for Paramount+ by 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios. Freeman plays the role of Edwin Mullins, Secretary of State for the United States.
