Motorcyclist found in ditch nearly three days after vanishing on way to McDonald’s

A Tennessee motorcyclist who went missing on his way to pick up a McDonald’s breakfast survived nearly three days in a ditch after he ran off the road — less than a mile from his home.

Taylor Boyle, 27, was missing until a team of loyal friends found him hidden under trees and bushes on Tuesday at the base of a 15-foot-tall embankment near Heiskell, a community about 12 miles northwest of Knoxville.

He had been reported missing earlier in the day, but was last heard from Sunday morning, according to the Knox County Sherriff’s Office — with friends saying Boyle stopped at a McDonald’s before plans to meet at one of their nearby homes.

A search party of loved ones had scoured the area earlier that day with little luck but returned to the area out of dedication to their missing friend.

“When I looked down there, I didn’t see him at first and as I panned out, I saw something shimmering — basically just seeing light bounce off. And when I did, I looked back and I just saw Harley wheels,” friend Brandon Lawson told 10 News.

Just a few feet from the crashed blue motorcycle was Boyle, who was lying in the ditch he had been traveling in for the past 60 hours since he reportedly crashed the bike into a tree.

The motorcyclist was alert and talking but suffered a concussion that left him delirious about the dangerous situation.

“He had a guardian angel with him because he only thought he was there for an hour camping with his dad,” Boyle’s sister-in-law wrote on Facebook.

Boyle was rushed to hospital with a dislocated elbow, a concussion and a small brain haemorrhage, with doctors saying he had a “long road to recovery.”

According to Boyle’s friends, the McDonald’s biscuits Boyle bought for one of his friends were still packed in his backpack when he was rescued.

“All I’m worried about doing is finding him. Anything and everything we need to do, as long as it takes time. We just have to find him, I know he’s out there,” said Ryan French.

“It’s been pretty crazy, to be honest, the whole time he’s been here. And, as you can see from up here, it’s a miracle we found it. I just praise God every day.”
