Mukesh Rawal is an Indian actor best known for playing the role of ‘Vibhishana’ in Ramanand Sagar’s epic TV series ‘Ramayan’ (1987).

He is married to Saral Rawal, and the couple has three children. His son, Dwij, died in a train accident in 2006 at the age of 18. Mukesh and Saral have two daughters, Arya Vaid Rawal and Vipra Rawal Mewani, and both are actresses.
Career
In 1970, he started working at the Bank of Baroda and worked there for almost 31 years. In 2001, he voluntarily retired from his job at the bank. He then started acting in theater plays, and later, he acted in various Hindi and Gujarati theater plays like ‘Bol Baby Bol, Bindaas Bol,’ ‘Khel,’ and ‘Ame Tane Ane Rataniyo.’ He has worked in various Hindi, Gujarati, and Bhojpuri films and television shows. He gained immense popularity with the epic mythological series ‘Ramayan’ (1987) and ‘Luv Kush’ (1988) in which he played the role of Vibhishana.
Mukesh acted in several Hindi TV series including ‘Hasratein’ (1996), ‘Kohi Apna Sa’ (2001), ‘Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu’ (2008), and ‘Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhaunga’ (2011). He played supporting roles in various Hindi films such as ‘Woh Phir Aayegi’ (1988), ‘Zid’ (1994), ‘Lahoo Ke Do Rang’ (1997), ‘Wake Up Sid’ (2009), and ‘Haunted – 3D’ (2011).
Death
On 15 November 2016, he died in a train accident in Kandivali, Mumbai, while he was on his way to dub his Gujarati film. His body was found on the railway track in Mumbai at around 9.33 am and was identified by his relatives. At his death, one of his relatives said,
His body was found this morning on a railway track in Mumbai. He died in a train accident. We haven’t got the body for the last rites. It’s still in the morgue.”
Veteran Indian actress, Himani Shivpuri said,
We just got the news and are deeply saddened by the same. News has come in and we will be visiting family. We don’t know why he killed himself. He left a family.”
According to several other sources, Mukesh was depressed after the death of his son and committed suicide. In an interview, one of the officers from Borivli GRP said,
Mukesh could never accept his son’s death. After the couple’s daughter got married and left, Mukesh began to feel even more lonely. About 15 days before he committed suicide, Mukesh started missing Dwij a lot, and would often talk about her. Maybe that’s why he killed himself.”
