During the prequel trilogy, and especially in “Attack of the Clones,” Hayden Christensen wore two Padawan Jedi braids to indicate his rank in the Jedi Order. In a recent interview for GQ’s “Actually Me” series, Portman admitted that she actually stole one of her braids to take home as a souvenir.
“From the second one, I took one of Anakin’s braids,” Portman admitted. “She has that little braid hanging down.” However, he doesn’t seem to have it anymore. “Then I lost it,” he added, admitting, “So that didn’t really help.”
During the same interview, she also reflected on the purple tour outfit she wore in “The Phantom Menace” that has since become a fan favorite. “This one is pretty unusual,” she said of the dress. “It has such Japanese elements.”
He was also asked directly, “Any chance of Padme / Natalie Portman returning to ‘Star Wars?’ His character really deserves the way he was treated in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and the overall importance to the story of the Original Trilogy?”
“I have no information on this matter. No one has ever asked me to come back, but I am open to it,” he replied.
Taika Waititi FORGOT Natalie Portman was in ‘Star Wars’
MEGAHowever, that is not entirely true. In July 2022, in an interview with Rolling Stone, director Taika Waititi worked with Portman on “Thor: Love and Thunder.” He asked Natalie Portman if she wanted to work with him again, which led to him asking her about a project she was working on.
“He said to me, ‘What are you doing next?’ I said, ‘Oh, I’m trying to work on the Star Wars thing. Have you ever wanted to be in a Star Wars movie?’” That prompted Portman to awkwardly remind her that she starred as Padmé Amidala in the three “Star Wars” movies that make up the prequel trilogy.
When reporters asked the director if that really happened, Waititi explained, “I forgot about that,” referring to the films in the prequel trilogy. “He said ‘I’ve been in a Star Wars movie,'” Waititi continued. “And I go ‘…should we do it again?’”
Taika Waititi Is Still Working On His Own ‘Star Wars’ Movie

In March 2023, Variety reported that Waititi was “continuing to work” on his “Star Wars” script and “will most likely take part in it as well.” Lucasfilm first announced that he would be creating a new “Star Wars” movie with “Last Night in Soho” writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns on May 4, 2020, but it appears that little progress has been made on the film since then.
In July 2022, Waititi was asked by /Film how far he had completed the script. “Right now it’s still very early, because I … haven’t finished the script yet,” Waititi said at the time. “I’m still trying to come up with ideas and I’m mostly in the open part of the process.”
“And when I write, I write down every idea I’ve ever had and then start sculpting it into something,” he continued. “But I’m still throwing everything against the wall now.”

In a separate interview with Total Film, Waititi revealed that he plans to expand the galaxy far, far away with new characters.
“Look, I think for the Star Wars universe to grow, it has to grow,” Waititi said. “I feel like I’m useless in the Star Wars universe making a movie where everyone’s like, ‘Oh great, that’s the Millennium Falcon blueprint, ah that’s Chewbacca’s grandma.’”
“That all stands on its own, that’s great, although I’d like to take something new and create some new characters and just expand the world, otherwise it feels like a very small story,” he said.

However, in another interview with New York Times, Waititi expressed doubt that the film would be made, even though he finished the script.
“I’m trying to write a ‘Star Wars’ idea at the moment,” he explained. “I’ll have to see how it goes, because once I submit it, that might determine when it’s made or if it’s made, even.”
At least fans have three new “Star Wars” movies to look forward to!
