Natasha Bianca Lyonne Braunstein was born on April 4, 1979, in New York City, New York, to Aaron Braunstein and Ivette Buchinger. His father was a boxing promoter, race car driver, and radio host. Lyonne grew up in an orthodox Jewish home as her parents came from an orthodox Jewish family. He spent the first eight years of his life in Great Neck, New York, but his parents later moved to Israel for a year and a half. While in Israel, he appeared in the children’s film April Fools, which sparked his interest in acting.
Lyonne’s parents divorced later, and she, her brother Adam, and her mother moved back to America. Lyonne went to The Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein Upper School Of Ramaz, a private Jewish school where she was a scholarship student who took Talmudic honors classes and read Aramaic. He was later expelled from school for selling marijuana on campus.
Lyonne grew up on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where she felt like an outcast, but her mother later moved the family to Miami, where she attended Miami Country Day School. Lyonne never graduated from high school because she went to attend Tish School of the Arts but dropped out before finishing because she couldn’t afford the tuition. He later studied film and philosophy at New York University for a short time.
