Naveen Shankar is an Indian actor and TV presenter, who mostly works in Kannada films. He is best known for his roles in the Kannada films Hondisi Bareyiri (2023) and Gurudev Hoysala (2023).

Naveen Shankar was born on Wednesday, 25 May 1988 (age 35 years; in 2023) in Ilkal, Bagalkot, Karnataka. His zodiac sign is Gemini. He attended a school in Illakal. He grew up listening to legendary stories and watching Kannada cinema on DD channel which prompted him to develop an interest in acting. While talking about it in an interview, Shankar said,
My teachers introduced me to various subjects that attracted me to tell stories, which left a lasting impression on me. Reading recommended books and watching inspirational movies and dialogues delivered by various actors motivates me.”
After completing his schooling, he enrolled himself in an engineering course. However, when he was in his first year of college, he dropped out of the course to pursue theatre. While in college, Naveen started a Kannada theater group.

Film Reporter & Anchor
Naveen Shankar started his career as a film reporter for a local news channel in 2009. He then started working as an anchor on U2 Music channel.
Theater Artist
While Shankar was working as an anchor, he simultaneously started acting in theatre. He soon joined various theater production houses and worked in more than 45 plays and 200 street plays for social awareness. He has been associated with the Rajamarg Academy of Art, Culture, and Drama since 2010.

Naveen Shankar made his debut in 2018 with the Kannada-language cyber crime thriller Gultoo in which he played the role of Alok.
A year later, he bagged the role of an MMA boxer named Aadhi in the crime drama film Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage. The film was released in November 2022. In 2023, he appeared in three Kannada films Hondisi Bareyiri as Ranjit, Gurudev Hoysala as Bali, and Kshetrapati as Basavaraj Hadimani. Apart from movies, he has also acted in several TV series and short films.

Naveen made his Telugu film debut in 2023 with the action epic Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. He played the role of Pandith in the film.

I added ‘Shankar’ to my name not as my father’s name, but as a tribute to the personality of Shankar Nag. This is my way of honoring Mr. Shankar Nag. He is a great inspiration. I also spoke to seniors who worked with him and learned about their experiences. Having my name next to Shankar fueled my motivation. His persona and incredible achievements in a short time motivated me. That is why I added Shankar to my name.”
