Nazanin Boniadi was born in Tehran, Iran on May 22, 1980. She grew up in London, England. He is Iranian-British and of Iranian-British-White ethnicity. At the height of the Iranian Revolution, his parents moved to London less than a month later. She used to play the violin and ballet as a child. Hazrat Safi Ali Shah, a 19th century Persian philosopher and poet, was his ancestor.
Nazanin Boniadi attended a private high school before enrolling at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with honors. Nazanin received the Chang Pin-Chun Undergraduate Research Award while attending university for her work in molecular research involving cancer treatment and heart transplant rejection.
