Nazneen, now known as Nazneen Merchant, is an Indian actress who was active in Bollywood in the 1970s and 1980s. She is best known for playing the role of ‘Kunti’ in the Indian epic television series “Mahabharat.”

Nazneen was born on Sunday, 23 February 1958 (age 62 years; as in 2020) in Kolkata. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He did his schooling from Hill Grange High School Mumbai. She aspired to be a flight attendant since childhood. However, his mother once thought that pursuing such a career was not safe for him. Once, during a party hosted by one of his relatives, a film director, Satyen Bose, saw him and offered him a role in his film “Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa” (1972).

Nazneen belongs to a Muslim Family. His father owned a printing press. She is the niece of Mumtaz Begum. He is married and has two daughters, Kausar Merchant and Kehkashan Merchant. He is the brother of film producer, Yusuf Teendarwazwala.
Career
Nazneen started her acting career in 1972 with the movie “Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa.” Next, she played the role of Jaya Bachchan’s sister in the film “Kora Kagaz.” After Kora Kagaz, Nazneen got many offers to play supporting roles in the film, but she turned them all down. She has appeared in films like “Chalte Chalte” (1976), “Fauji” (1976), “Dildaar” (1977), “Khuda Kasam” (1981) and “Do Ustad” (1982). Nazneen has also worked in several “B” class movie as the leading lady.
In 1988, she played the role of ‘Kunti’ in the popular Indian television series “Mahabharat.”

- Nazneen is often confused with former actor, Aloka (Wife of actor, Ranjeet); because Aloka’s real name is Nazneen.
- Film directors thought that Nazneen was very similar to Jaya Bachchan, so she was offered by Jaya’s sister in several films.
- Reportedly, Nazneen only made 22 films throughout her career.
- In 1976, she did a Bikini Scene for the movie “Chalte Chalte.” She agreed to wear a bikini in the film because she wanted the film director to know that she can also play the lead role in the film.
- After “Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa,” signed two more films with the director, Satyen Bose, but the film was never made.
- The film’s director, Satyen Bose suggested she use the screen name Suparna or Sonali. However, Nazneen decided to work under her real name “Nazneen.”
