Family supports family. That’s what Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry did when he accidentally, and hilariously, woke up his 4-year-old son Canon screaming for the game-winning shot from brother-in-law Damion Lee. Lee, in his first game as a Phoenix Suns player, had Curry yelling and cheering him on during the Suns’ season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.

After the big, bold shout, Curry, 34, excitedly and loudly said, “Come on! Yes, Dame! Stick to it! Hold on to it!” Curry cheered for his sister, Sydel Curry-Lee’s husband, while his wife, Ayesha, sat on the sofa pointing to the ceiling reminding him that the children were sleeping upstairs. “The children sleep. I do not care. Hold on to it!” he screamed. “I’m sorry, Canon cried. I woke him up. Alright D-Lee.”
The Currys are also parents to daughters Riley, 10, and Ryan, 7. It’s unclear if the other children were also awake during the hilarious incident.
The video was posted on the Curry Family Fan page on Instagram and their followers clearly enjoyed it. The next night during a media session, when a reporter asked Curry if he apologized to his son for waking him up while he screamed, Curry replied with a smile, “This is my house. He’s fine.”

Lee, 29, is not only family to Curry, he was also his teammate for four seasons with the Warriors before signing as a free agent on a one-year deal with the Suns. Lee scored all 11 of the team’s season-opening fourth quarter games after trailing the Mavericks by 22 points in the second quarter. The Suns trailed by 15 points with eight minutes left in the game, but Lee’s contested jumper won it in the final seconds, which sent his supportive brother-in-law and friends squealing with delight.

Lee posted a birthday tribute to his wife on Instagram the day after the game drew her with the caption, “Happy birthday Delly!! You are absolutely amazing in every way! How selfless and understanding you are never noticed!! I hope you are shown unconditional love today and enjoy your day! #DellyDay.” The two are parents to son Daxon Wardell-Xavier, born in November 2021.
It was an interesting month for Lee. The couple recently moved to the Phoenix area ahead of the start of the NBA season, and just a week ago, Curry-Lee posted a video of their baby boy walking at 10 months old, with the caption, “Sometimes all you need is someone to tell you what you gonna do lol #walkingbaby #10months”
