NBA’s James Harden Files Cross-Complaint In Damaged $30 Million Mansion Lawsuit

NBA star James Harden, who was sued in 2019 for allegedly turning a $30 million rental home into a “party” house, has filed a countercomplaint against the Beverly North Park Homeowners Association.

The athlete is suing for “negligence and contractual liability and damages,” claiming that he and his teammates were never told what and what they weren’t allowed to do in the rental property.

Harden filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against the Beverly Park North Homeowners Association, which was listed as the owner of the mansion when it was rented, according to court documents obtained by Explosion.

In 2019, a man named George Santopietro sued Harden, claiming that the athlete and his friends misled him and did not keep their promise to follow his rules, which included no smoking inside his home, no valet parking on the street, and no more than seven guests once upon a time.

Harden and his agent were further accused of breach of contract, unfair business practices and fraud.

Now, Harden is filing his own lawsuit alleging that he and his friends weren’t told what to do or how to act when they rented out the property.

“No one told those 7 young adults what they could or couldn’t do, and they entertained two small gatherings of around 20 to 25 friends the first two nights there. No one told them what consequences they might face for that act,” the court document reads.

He went on to state in his countercomplaint that the HOA failed to follow its own rules and that “the alleged owner of the house,” Santopietro, “has moved to Bangkok, where he launched a campaign to recover over $300,000 because 20 or so friends came to seeing those 7 young adults, to hang out and have a good time.”

The case is ongoing.
