The singer-songwriter and actress appears to have apologized for her earlier remarks. He raised doubts about parents supporting minors who identify as a gender different from the gender they were assigned at birth. However, just hours after the apology was made public, Ne-Yo claimed that it was his publicist who issued the statement, not him.

“I think parents have almost forgotten what the role of parents is. If your son comes to you and says, ‘Dad, I want to be a girl.’ And you just let him rock with that? He is five. If you let this five-year-old boy decide to eat candy all day, he will. When is it a good idea to let a five-year-old, let a six-year-old, let a 12-year-old make life-changing decisions for themselves? When did that happen? I do not understand.”

Once the YouTube upload went viral, the “Because of You” singer came under fire for her comments, and she quickly took to X —formerly Twitter — to express her “deepest apologies”.

In fact, the “Time of Our Lives” hitmaker himself posted a video on Instagram to maintain his position “from the horse’s mouth” and “not a publicity computer.” He stated in part:
“I do not apologize for having an opinion on this matter. I’m a 43 year old heterosexual man raising five boys and two girls, okay? That is my reality. If my opinion offends someone, yes, sure, I’m sorry that you were offended because that was not my intention. My intention was never to offend anyone. However, I have the right to feel what I feel. I am absolutely entitled to feel my feelings the same way you are entitled to feel yours.”
