Neeta Lulla is an Indian clothing designer, fashion stylist and couturier. He is famous for designing the costumes of popular Bollywood actresses Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai for the film “Devdas” (2002).

Neeta Lulla was born on Friday, March 5, 1965 (age 55 years; as in 2020) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Pisces. He grew up in Ahmedabad. She was a tomboy in her school days who had no interest in studies. He prefers extracurricular activities to reading books. Although his mother worried about his grades, his father encouraged him to play sports. During his high school days, to develop an interest in reading, his father bought him the popular bi-annual magazines of the time, “Seventeen” and “Cosmopolitan” (which were only available in select stores). The magazine showcased the chemistry between Bollywood and fashion and slowly instilled a spark of fashion and style in her. To avoid a high school education and a college degree, Neeta chose to get married. However, after marriage, her husband asked her to finish her studies. It was then that she decided to pursue a Diploma in Pattern Making and Garment Making from Mumbai’s SNDT University. In her college, she was groomed by Hemant Trivedi in make-up, fashion choreography, and styling shows.

Career
Neeta started her career by working as an assistant to fashion choreographer, Jeanne Naoroji. He assisted her in various fashion shows for about two and a half years. Meanwhile, Lulla also received an offer from her college to work as a fashion coordination lecturer. However, after gathering relevant experience and knowledge about the fashion industry, Neeta decided to start her own business. Lulla started his journey from a room in his house with a Kaarigar (worker) and a sewing machine. He worked from home for a while but the results were not great. In 1988, his brother-in-law (a producer), gave him an opportunity to design costumes for the Bollywood film ‘Tamacha.’ Although, Lulla did a good job in Tamacha, but it was the Bollywood film “Lamhe” (1991), which brought him instant fame. Before venturing into mainstream fashion, Neeta designed for several big banner Bollywood films, including “Manikarnika,” “Hum Aapke Hai Kaun,” “Darr,” “Khal Nayak” and “Taal.” In 2002, he gained huge popularity after designing clothes for Bollywood divas Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the movie “Devdas.” He has also worked for Bollywod actresses like Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Salma Azad, Isha Koppikar, and Sridevi. Not only Bollywood, she has also worked as a costume designer in Bollywood films such as “One Night With The King,” “Mistress Of Spices,” “Bride & Prejudice,” and “Provoked.”
In 2014, she collaborated with Bollywood director Subhash Ghai to open a fashion institute in Mumbai, “The Whistling Wood International Neeta School of Fashion.” The institute provides various courses in fashion, online marketing, and merchandising for budding fashion enthusiasts.
