Netflix Removes Two Popular Johnny Depp Films From Its Service

Johnny Depp made his film debut in the horror film “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (1984), but has since starred in various productions including “Edward Scissorhands” (1990), “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” (1993), “Sleepy Hollow” ( 1999), “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2005), “Alice in Wonderland” (2010), and, of course, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.

Depp has been in the news for his recent defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Now, months after the trial ended, Netflix has pulled two popular Depp movies from its streaming service.

This past weekend, two Johnny Depp movies were removed from the streaming service — “Chocolat” (2000) and “Blow” (2001).

“Chocolat” is a romance starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche, and directed by Lasse Hallström. The film follows single mother Vianne (Binoche) and her new chocolate shop, but she soon realizes her business is causing some changes in the small community. He also finds himself in a relationship with a self-proclaimed river rat (Depp)

“Blow” is a different kind of movie — a movie that takes place in the 1970s and tells the story of how George Jung, along with the Medellín Cartel led by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine market in the United States.

Depp fans can still watch his 1997 crime drama “Donnie Brasco,” as it’s still streaming on Netflix. And for Disney+ subscribers, Jack Sparrow fans can stream all five “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, including “Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl” (2003), “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” ( 2006 ), “Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End” (2007), “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011), and “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (2017).

Depp Will Not Return As Jack Sparrow For “Pirates” Movie.

Johnny Depp as Jack SparrowDisney

Johnny Depp is known for his many roles in television and film, but one of his most iconic characters is Captain Jack Sparrow — the wisecracking pirate in all five of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchises. Due to allegations by Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard, Disney fired the actor and he will not return to the sixth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

And during the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Heard’s lawyer, Ben Rottenborn, asked Depp, while Depp was on the witness stand, “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, there’s nothing on earth will this make you come back and work with Disney on the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie? Really?” Depp confirmed he would not be returning as Jack Sparrow, “That’s right, Mr. Rottenborn.”

Currently, Depp is not returning to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise for the sixth installment.

Johnny Depp, however, recently channeled his beloved pirate and dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” for a seriously ill child, Kori, releasing a video that did not go viral on social media.

The 11-year-old boy runs the YouTube channel “Kraken The Box,” and he is currently in palliative care after several heart transplant surgeries. As an outlet, Kori watched the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” during her recovery.
