Buggy below.
An Australian news reporter was violently attacked live — by himself — when he tried to shoo away a pesky mosquito, but missed and ended up getting hit in the face.
Andrea Crothers, a reporter for Australia’s Today Show, was on location reporting on the recent floods in Brisbane when a pesky bug landed on her face.
The reporter, as any bug-hater would, swatted at the blood-sucking insect, but he had little aim and the bug was too fast, giving Crothers a pretty brutal blow.
After a moment of impact, which was loud enough to be picked up by his microphone, Crothers ran away from the camera, waving his arms as the buggy attack continued
Although he seemed distressed at the moment, his colleagues weren’t too concerned as they found the situation rather amusing.
“Funny thing happened today, Andrea Crothers, who’s one of our great reporters on the show, she’s been covering this floodwater in Brisbane, great job,” host Karl Stefanovic said, according to a video shared by Crothers.
“But it’s very humid there, the weather is wet, and along with all those conditions comes the terrible [bugs] while the sound of mosquitoes is played. So here he is, face to face on air during a live report.
The show’s panel, inside a temperature-controlled studio, broke down at the plight of their colleagues.
“There is a danger when journalists position themselves to bring you stories at home,” added Stefanovic.

Crother’s now-viral moment was shown at least four times, including one take played in slow motion.
“I’d like to see it all slowed down, reversed, backed up again,” said Today Extra host David Campbell.
‘I don’t want to mess with Andrea, obviously she’s not kidding,” co-host Sylvia Jeffreys added. “She might as well take herself out.”

Crothers, who seems to have escaped the self-attack unscathed, ends up taking part in mocking himself.
A day after the viral hit, she wore a mesh headscarf during a live broadcast, insinuating that it was approved by human resources.
“I’m OK guys, HR said I can wear this as long as I don’t file for workers compensation for punching myself in the face,” the reporter said.
“It’s actually quite stylish, it looks like you’re going to the races,” said one of the hosts in the studio.

I’m still laughing. Watched this about five times. Gold,” one person commented under Crothers’ Instagram post.
“All of you people!!” one more added.
