Nia Long believes her problems with her ex-fiancé, Ime Udoka are a sign of a new beginning!
Days after the disgraced NBA coach rejected the TV personality’s request for full custody of their son, Kez, the “Friday” star seemed to address the former athlete’s actions.
The caramel beauty’s cryptic message comes a year after the head coach for the Houston Rockets was fired from the Boston Celtics due to his cheating scandal.
Nia Long Stays Positive In Her Full Custody War Against Ime Udoka
In his latest Instagram update, the “Boyz n the Hood” actor appeared to reflect on his ongoing custody battle with his ex-fiancé. Although the 52-year-old man did not mention his former lover, his words hinted at the separation of the two.

“Sometimes the Universe tests you the most when you’re approaching a new chapter,” the TV personality wrote in her Sept. 15 post. His motivational message came when Udoka responded to his allegations & asked for joint custody of the former couple’s son, Kez.
In his legal filing in Los Angeles County District Court, the NBA coach asked the judge to grant both of them equal rights over their child’s well-being. This means the 46-year-old will have the power to make important decisions about his son, from medical treatment to schooling and religion.
If the judge grants her request, Long’s request for full custody will be denied, and Udoka will have a 50% time share with their son. Additionally, the Houston Rockets head coach wants the ex-boyfriend to be responsible for their attorney’s fees, while the mother of two plans to make him pay her bills.
Despite fighting for joint custody, the former basketball player’s legal documents show that he checked the box for “visitation” rights with his son. This shows that Udoka is willing to let Kez stay with Long since he spends time with the boy during holidays or summer break.
The coach’s legal filing comes weeks after the “Big Momma’s House” cast surprisingly filed for full custody of their child. The 52-year-old asked for sole physical and legal rights related to Kez but agreed to give Udoka the opportunity to visit.
Long enlisted the services of Samantha Spector, a celebrity attorney, to dismiss his petition to “determine parental relationship” because the couple was not married. The New Yorker’s fight for full custody of his son may stem from the difficulties the boy allegedly faced because of the cheating scandal.
According to the three-time NAACP Image Award winner, Kez was devastated by his father’s infidelity. “He still has moments where it’s not easy for him,” the mother of two once admitted, recalling how she pulled him out of school the day Udoka’s affair went viral.

“I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this is seeing the look on my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very personal situation public,” lamented Long, slamming the popular NBA team.
The drama began after the Boston Celtics released a statement about releasing Udoka from his position as their team’s head coach. He was sacked for breaching the organisation’s code of conduct by having an “intimate and conceptual relationship” with a female Celtic staff member.
Following his former team’s message, Udoka confirmed his immoral actions with a reply: “I’m sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for all involved, I will not comment further.”
BET Comedy Award Winner Claims She Won’t Retaliate Against Her Ex-Fiancé
Months before Long’s cryptic message about new beginnings, the 52-year-old appeared to discuss his split with Udoka on his Instagram page. In May, the “Boston Legal” actor opened up about getting revenge after his ex-flame got a new job.
The TV personality’s quote reads, “The best revenge is no revenge. Proceed. Be happy.” Her words show the comforter’s dependence on peace rather than revenge on the man who hurt her.

Long’s message was received positively by his followers and friends, including talk show host Robinson Peete, who commented, “Yes, Sis! Revenge perpetuates toxicity.” Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Tanya Sam echoed similar sentiments, writing: “Amen. Bittersweet or better.”
As noted, the caramel-colored beauty’s post comes after Udoka’s new position as coach of the Houston Rockets was announced. NBA teams poached him following rumors that the Nets had pulled out of hiring the coach because of his cheating scandal.
