In a podcast interview, comedian and actor Nick Cannon expressed his desire to deepen his understanding of his children, revealing his plans to pursue a master’s degree in child psychology and a Ph.D. in divinity.

In a recent podcast interview on “The Language of Love” with Dr. Laura Berman, Nick Cannon expressed his sincere desire to deepen his understanding of his children.

follow Insider, Cannon shared his plans to pursue a master’s degree in child psychology. Not enough to stop there, he also revealed his aspirations to continue his Ph.D. in divinity.

Dr. Berman, acknowledging the value of pursuing Cannon’s education, applauded his decision, saying it would be “useful.” Cannon echoed his sentiments, agreeing he’s in “that conversation every day.”

“Oh, the presence of a father and how much they need you and the Freudian aspect of going back to your childhood trauma, or lack thereof,” she says. “Nature versus nurture. This is a conversation I have several times a day.”

Intrigued by his views, Dr. Berman asked if he was engaging in this conversation “with the naysayers or with the mother?”

The “Masked Singer” host explained, “Well, not a naysayer, but I’m like, I’m living, whether it’s in therapy myself or just wanting to make sure every kid has what they need, developmentally. And emotionally. I am studying the brain and at what point the senses are important.”

Notably, Cannon’s commitment to education has been evident since he graduated from Howard University, a historically black college, in May 2020. Sharing his joy on social media, he said, “I graduated from Howard University today! Received a degree in Criminology/Administration of Justice and a minor in Africana Studies! I had the opportunity to speak at the virtual ceremony; Masters and Ph.D. is next! #HU2020.”

Sadly, in December 2021, Cannon faced an unimaginable loss when his son Zen, who he shared with Alyssa Scott, died five months after a battle with brain cancer. Cannon and Scott later welcomed their daughter, Halo Marie, who is now six months old.

Despite his grown children, Cannon remains committed to being an active father, sharing heartwarming videos and photos of him spending quality time with his children on Instagram.

Curious about his aspirations, Dr. Berman asks, “In your dream world, regardless of whether you are romantically involved or not romantically involved with mom, all of your children will know each other. All your children will come together, go on trips together or go out together,”

“They’re all Cannons,” the father of 12 insists, “They’ll probably go to the same school.”

However, Cannon admits that bringing all his children together has its challenges, as he respects that it may not be “everyone’s desire” at this time. “I think we will get there. One of the things I’ve seen from some of my parents in the game, when kids reach the age to make their own decisions, it’s going to happen,” he said, per People magazine.

She continued, “Because they are under their mother’s authority, I try to play by mom’s rules. But when they can make their own decisions, I hope and pray that we can have a strong enough relationship that they want to hang out with me.”
