Nick Cannon Describes Mental Health Struggles After Lupus Diagnosis

Lupus, an autoimmune condition that triggers the immune system to attack healthy cells, can lead to a variety of physical symptoms. However, the emotional toll of battling a chronic illness can sometimes be just as challenging.

The talk show host experienced that and more after getting his diagnosis. In a recent appearance, the 42-year-old candidly revealed how he struggles with his mental well-being, pondering the purpose of life and whether he has spent his time on Earth wisely.

The “Roll Bounce” actress found herself asking, “If I get hit again, what am I going to do?” During an episode of The Diary Of A CEO podcast, the comedian stated that his struggle with lupus instilled a deep appreciation for the time he spends with his children.

Faced with uncertainty about his health, the entrepreneur struggles mentally as he thinks about the legacy he will leave for his children, cherishing every moment with them.

Cannon recalled a moment of deep contemplation when he “stared from his hospital bed, staring at the ceiling alone as everyone was kicked out.” The “Wild ‘n Out” star said that the period of solitude made him “face with your higher power, asking all those hard questions. Am I done yet? A lot of people don’t do that because we get caught up in the constant race of just living day to day, but it slows down for me on many occasions.”

The rapper emphasized that he is often faced with the reality of “his death all the time.” He explained, “And when you’re not afraid of dying, you focus on living, you know? Anyone who has had a near-death experience or anyone who has been in a lonely place to deal with the thought of the afterlife and this life for you, you live the rest of your day differently.”

Obviously, the songwriter can’t do it all by himself. Cannon also acknowledged the important role his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, played in his journey to recovery. Speaking to podcast host Steven Bartlett, he emphatically stated:

“He is my rock. He went with difficulty. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for how hard he went with the doctor, with me, my stubbornness.”

Although they broke up after almost a decade together, the producer praised the superstar for carrying it all with remarkable grace. The father of twelve, who shares fraternal twins, Morocco and Monroe, with the singer, pointed out that she is “the perfect helpmate, the perfect parent, the perfect mother, the perfect wife in that scenario.”

Apart from his children with his ex-wife Mariah Carey, the TV personality is the proud father of twelve wonderful children, shared among various women, including Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Alyssa Scott, LaNisha Cole, and Bre Tiesi.

Despite his extensive parentage, Cannon has previously mentioned that he does not pay child support. This may be why the host of “The Masked Singer” feels comfortable referring to the possibility of having more little ones.

Through videos on TikTok, she shares a light-hearted take on the child support situation, drawing a lot of interest from her dedicated fans. In the clip, Cannon, wearing a bright yellow hoodie, is busy with paperwork at a desk.

However, his attention is quickly diverted by a FaceTime call from “Baby Mama #25.” When a mechanical voice reminded him, saying, “Nick, it’s time to pay child support,” the “Drumline” star chose not to answer.

Instead, he tapped an automated message, stating, “Sorry, I can’t talk right now.” Repeating the statement in the caption, the post sparked a range of opinions from fans, such as one commenter, who playfully suggested the voice sounded like Carey’s.

The second observed that he seemed to “become self-conscious.” However, a third follower took a more critical stance, stating, “Not cute and not funny that you accidentally created all the broken families/single moms who are lucky to at least have a part-time dad.”

Amidst the comments, some enjoyed the video, jokingly commenting, “The fact that he gave them a number????” and “Ooohhh you have a joke!!!???.”
