Career
Nicola Adams had her first fight when she was 13 years old. She was the first female boxer to represent her country at the England team camp in 2001. She won the first British amateur championship in 2003 and went on to win the following three titles. Adams became the first female boxer to defend her Olympic title in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, after winning her first gold medal in London in 2012. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Adams knocked out Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh and won gold in the women’s flyweight event on a split decision.
On January 23, 2017, she signed a contract with promoter Frank Warren and made her professional debut with a 40-36 points win against Argentina’s Virginia Carcamo. Finally, as an undefeated champion, he announced his retirement from professional boxing in November 2019.
