Nicole Scherzinger Calls Herself ‘Quarterback’ Of Pussycat Dolls Amid Lawsuit Scandal

The lead singer of “The Pussycat Dolls,” Nicole Scherzinger, has a thing or two to get off her mind, and we can’t wait for you to hear it all!

The pop legend reminisces about her time with one of the most important pop girl groups of all time, and she has a lot to unpack. The sensational girl group dominated the industry from 2003-2010. They reunited about ten years later to release a hit single and finally close the curtain in 2021.

The 45-year-old singer-songwriter revealed that he is proud that he is the voice behind most of the group’s musical projects. In his words:

“I was always made to feel like . . . I don’t know, not ashamed but . . . I am very proud that the album is my music. I put the work down after many years, and it’s okay that I get credit because everyone has their own strengths. And this is what I bring to the table.”

He was later joined by dancers Kimberly Wyatt, Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts, Carmit Bachar, and Jessica Sutta. Scherzinger became a household name in 2005 following the group’s debut single “Don’t Cha.”

They later released two hit albums, “PCD” and “Doll Domination,” and they also had eight Top 40 hits, including “Beep” and “Buttons.” Scherzinger didn’t hold back in her encomiums on the girl group, telling PEOPLE:

“Our group was never formed like the Spice Girls. Our group was set up where I would be the quarterback, and I would lead us. Those girls are very strong, talented dancers, and I had to work hard to be able to stand next to them.”

The group briefly reunited in 2020 and released “React” with plans to tour, but were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. That time was eventually canceled due to a lawsuit between Scherzinger and Antin. Scherzinger has since appeared as a judge on several reality competition shows such as “X Factor” and “The Masked Singer.”

In July, The Blast shared that the actress would not be inviting former bandmates to her wedding to former rugby player Thom Evans. A source revealed that the five women didn’t make the guest list because “Nicole didn’t want to invite one and not the other.”

The source continued that the singer did not want to bring any toxicity from unresolved issues to her big day. Despite their brief reconciliation, there was still a lot of bad blood between them. Nicole reportedly feels “it’s unfair to be painted as a villain just because she’s a better band singer.”

Scherzinger’s beef with the group isn’t limited to women, as Antin also got some of her displeasure but in legal action. According to The Blast, the dancer sued the founder of the defunct group for damages in 2022 after Antin initially sued him for extortion following a tour cancellation.

Scherzinger accused Antin of misappropriating meeting tour funds and slapped an alleged breach of contract. He also added that the allegations made by Antin against him were false, and instead, he distributed tourism funds to unimportant parties. He continued in his suit:

“Anti’s waste included paying another entertainer, Pia Mia, more than $100,000 to be PCD’s lead singer and buying her expensive gifts. Miss Mia did not survive PCD and did not benefit the project. When Antin realized that PCD with Miss Mia would not work, Antin again approached Scherzinger.”

The “I Hate This Part” singer also claimed that she spent more than $163k of her funds on group expenses with no repayment plan. Other allegations include Antin using his anime to gain commercial benefits without his permission and not giving advance notices of his tours like other groups.

Scherzinger is seeking $1.1 million in damages, adding that she has lost other gigs for the same amount to be on the tour.
